Just when I thought you couldn’t look stupider.

[-] brap@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago

Now I don't like the Cybertruck, and I certainly don't like what is no doubt on the roof, but that colour really works on that for me. Just ditch the 01 too.

[-] Fester@lemm.ee 32 points 1 month ago

Yeah, it should blend decently with the rust.

[-] Ephera@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

I mean, ideally this color also serves as a coating and that actually prevents the rust. The Cybertruck just doesn't come with a coating by default...

I like the stainless steel of the DMC-12 but here orange is easily better than the stainless option, in terms of looks, IMO.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

Yeah, but if it did one jump it would break in half...

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago

Sadly, none of the "General Lee" cars that jumped for the show survived.

[-] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago

That was true of every General Lee. The show totaled dozens of Chargers, to the point they did aerial reconnaissance for more they could buy.

This one doesn't need to jump, to break in half. It's efficient!

[-] Zipitydew@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

I'd read at one point they went through around 300 all told for the TV show.

[-] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

But what’s on the top? 🤔

[-] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Probably a bored ape wearing a suit made of the Confederate flag

[-] Zetta@mander.xyz 2 points 1 month ago

GENERA is all I can make out

I should fix up an old muscle car, call it the General Sherman, and put this flag on top

[-] Nusm@yall.theatl.social 17 points 1 month ago

Would General Grant be close enough for you?

[-] Eldritch@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Someone literally did up a version of the car in blue. With the American flag on top of it and called it the General Grant.

If someone actually does a General Sherman version. It should start off with some nice tasteful flames around the wheel wells and along the hood. Rising up into an ash black across the rest of the body symbolizing the burning South.

I say this all the time like he said it in that movie. I didn’t know anyone else actually saw it!

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 month ago

Them: "Check out my Dukes of Hazzard Cybertruck!'

Me: "I bet that thing can jump over clear over that ravine. You should do it!"

[-] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago

90% of photos of this thing, I can't tell if they're real, or AI renders.

Like someone turned the graphics settings to minimum and it just decided textures/reflections aren't needed anymore; mono-colour flat polygons is the best we can do...

[-] fuzzzerd@programming.dev 1 points 1 month ago

It's even weirder seeing it in person, because it has a similar effect yet you know you are seeing it for real. That's just how it looks.

When a $15 "I'm stupid" shirt lacks the required depth.

[-] ThePantser@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Is that its natural rust color or was it painted? Does Tesla allow painting of their precious cybercuck?

[-] TheDarksteel94@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 month ago

And I wonder if you need to activate its special paint mode before starting, because otherwise you could brick the car 🤔

[-] crawancon@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

it's a paint subscription, where when you opt out, they come and scrape it off the car and let the rest rust off.

[-] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

It's almost definitely a wrap. Painting stainless steel is extremely difficult.

[-] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

I dunno, but I am seeing more and more of these silly things that don't look like a knockoff delorean

[-] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I've seen a gloss black and a matte blue Cybertruck IRL on the road, as well as a silver chameleon paint one.

[-] crawancon@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

I don't like Elon, and the execution of this thing has been a train wreck, but when I just sort of stepped back and looked at it with non biased eyes, I guess I think this one looks cool for some reason.

[-] tyler@programming.dev 6 points 1 month ago

We’ve been seeing this one around several times now and it’s definitely the best looking one we’ve seen, I mean it’s still bad. But definitely better than normal.

I have another photo from the side that shows how it changes color in the light but I can’t find it now.

[-] BartyDeCanter@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 month ago

I don't know if I'd go all the way to cool, but yeah, for some reason that color makes it almost work.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They simply look better painted. I'm convinced Tesla not only knows this, they were just tricking people into buying a vehicle they'd have to paint themselves.

[-] Oni_eyes@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

Hazmat Dumpster #1

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

So they're racist and extra stupid. Got it. Somebody should ask them what it's like fucking their cousin.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago
