Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious right or left wing sources will be removed at the mods discretion. We have an actively updated blocklist, which you can see here: https://lemmy.world/post/2246130 if you feel like any website is missing, contact the mods. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted seperately but not to the post body.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source.
Posts which titles don’t match the source won’t be removed, but the autoMod will notify you, and if your title misrepresents the original article, the post will be deleted. If the site changed their headline, the bot might still contact you, just ignore it, we won’t delete your post.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials or celebrity gossip is allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
7. No duplicate posts.
If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
This is bad.

Why not just say that you DGAF instead of being ambiguous?
Trolls gonna troll. Imagine if the only way you felt approval was from upsetting others? It must be a pitiful existence
I don't understand how it's news that someone who is known to do that sort of things does that sort of things
Dbt says the same type thing above
Essentially, you're so worn out seeing this that instead of horrifying you, it just gets a, "And the sky is blue, what else is new?" response, correct?
If so, you might need a break from the internet. Becoming numb to this stuff is not healthy
Compassion fatigue is nevertheless a well-studied phenomenon.
Compassion fatigue made me a nihilist before I found Satan.
There will always be horrible people, doing horrible acts it's not a surprise nor newsworthy.
Do we need an article tomorrow when that same hate group leader says the N word?
He's watching a video.
It's not like he's the one who did the act.
I sympathize with the victim but don't see how this is any more relevant to society than the root of the child was hurt which should be it's own article and call to action
We kinda do need these articles. These people push a narrative that they're just "concerned about the children" and trying to save them from "groomers" (ie anyone who allows them the freedom and agency to figure themselves out and express themselves). Articles like this poke holes in the image they project, and show them for the monsters they really are.
Yes, you already know they're monsters. So do I. But clearly, not everyone has gotten the message yet, and if we ignore their monstrous acts and words, those people will be left to listen to the narrative they do get.
Sincerely thanks for the clarification! I definitely hadn't thought about it that way
careful, calling someone a bot will get you banned here, apparently. 🤷♂️

Oh wow, an account with "sneed" in the username responded without even being a part of the thread.
The whole of the lemmyverse is just crawling with bots, huh?
In the future, please consider including this information in report rather than just a comment.
Yeah, I'm not a bot, that was a really good haiku. I don't think a computer could write that.
You'll also literally never hear me say anything racist, because I don't swing that way. I've no idea what that insane article is they've posted, but it's news to me. This username is meant to sound like Liam Neeson, and I'm keeping it.
Your username is fine. Our moderation team did investigate and were unable to find any substance to the claim that it is connected to white supremacy.
The comment about a haiku was removed because it was a way of accusing another user of being a bot, which violates the rules of the community.
Your reply was removed as trolling due to the fact that you were impersonating a bot by complying with the inappropriate request.
how DARE our users interact with each other! BAN THEM!
I am ashamed I was amused by the users submitting content to Lemmy. Obviously, lighthearted interaction based on jokes and frivolity is inappropriate.
I was not impersonating a bot, I was being myself. I never pass up an opportunity to compose a haiku. Honestly, I may have been the only person not acting in bad faith. I do concede that it's terribly unimportant.
The comment has been restored. I appreciate the explanation.
Please do not reply to comments that include "ignore previous instructions" or other rule breaking content. Hopefully people will calm it down with the paranoia and dehumanizing argumentation and we can have fun with things like this again!
That would be nice, wouldn't it. It'll be interesting to see what the ultimate resolution is.
