How does that address my point? The Y chromosome is the largest determining factor in violent crime, way more than any "ideology".

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago

Per capita, men commit more violent crime than women. It's not even close. Do you support restrictions on men just based on their gender?

You're talking about Trump right? Here's the transcript:

There's a reason why most of Trump's cabinet from his one term don't endorse him for a second term. He's nuts.

It's hard to say where exactly the responsibility sits for various LLM problems

Uhh... it's the designers, or maybe QA people. If there are no QA people, it's whatever project manager let it out of it's cage.

There are people behind these models. They don't spring out of the ground fully formed.

Why does your comment assume people are going to downvote you? You don't even state an opinion. I downvoted it because it doesn't contribute anything to the conversation.

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

This is exactly how you do experiments in social sciences. You need one off events like a debate or Supreme Court decision. Gathering people in a room like this ensures they all watch the debate and don't change the channel or something.

"Cope" is listening to talking heads and ignoring actual experiments like this one. Donald Trump loses among Latinos when people listen to him. That's what this tells me.

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 25 points 1 day ago

Nope. This just tries to put the US back before the New Deal. Nothing is inevitable.

You know what I ask doomers like this? I ask "what have you done to make your town better to live in?" All politics is local, so if you really care you'll be already doing something to improve your area. Inevitably doomers think someone else should "do something". It's never them that needs to step up.

Fucking vote if you won't do anything else.

But I was told that all Biden's answers were completely incoherent? You're telling me that the media is making a big deal out of a few moments in the debate?! That's never happened before!

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 19 points 1 day ago

Exactly. Biden sounded a little confused and disjointed on a few answers, but always made his point. Trump sounds confused and disjointed literally 90% of the time.

They are both old af but Biden has done a good job as president and sounds like a normal dude most of the time. Trump sounded worse every year and ended his time in office by killing millions of Americans through inaction.

Texas resident

Well there's your problem.

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 31 points 2 days ago

Biden's big problem in the debate was that, for a few moments, he mumbled a confused answer that sounded like Donald Trump.

[-] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 37 points 2 days ago

He had a decent performance. I understand more about his policies and called trump a felon and a fat loser. That's what I wanted out of it. Trump literally could not answer half of the questions because he was still rambling about the previous question.

Biden had a hoarse throat from a cold and a bit of a stutter but he turned on a dime when he was asked different questions. Both dudes are old af. The choice is: do you want senile grandpa who can't answer the question or the guy who has a soft voice?

Biden's clearly still with it but slower, and trump is clearly still nuts, possibly moreso. I choose Biden because he's the only one who occasionally says things that make sense.

The Biden administration is moving Ukraine ahead of other countries that were slated to receive air defense missiles, the latest move in its effort to rush urgently needed weapons to Kyiv.

The U.S. will “reprioritize” deliveries of Patriots and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems missiles planned for a select group of other countries so that the munitions coming off the production line will instead go to Ukraine, John Kirby, spokesperson for the National Security Council, announced Thursday.

I had an idea that would allow people to buy their own homes that they are currently renting:

  1. Every home gets appraised to determine what it would sell for. This is done by the county and is used for property taxes too.
  2. Every renter is allowed to buy a percentage of their primary residence from the owner. The owner has no choice in this. It's a requirement for being able to rent a property. Edit: Since people are confused about this, the renter is not required to buy anything. They have an option to buy.
  3. Renters can pay as little as $100 extra per month and the county puts their percentage ownership on the deed. If the home is sold, the renter can't be kicked out involuntarily. If they do leave, they get the percentage of home value they own.

Pros:

  • This would avoid the issue of high interest rates hurting primary homeownership.
  • This would blunt the impact of corporate landlords having a monopoly where they refuse to sell. They are forced to sell at a fair price.
  • This would create a simple decision between owning their home and spending money on luxuries or eating out.

Cons:

  • This would hurt small landlords who would have their property bought out from under them. This is actually a good thing because the benefits of rising property values are now shared.
  • The implementation is hard. This is actually a good thing because bad landlords would sell property they didn't want to manage, lowering prices for renters who want to buy.
  • It would cost the county money to hire appraisers. But this could be paid for by increased property taxes due to better appraisals.
  • Property taxes would go up for landlords. But this would be good, as it encourages them to sell the property. This appraisal process and increased property taxes wouldn't affect people who just lived in their home without charging rent.

“Something snapped in this guy—for real—when he lost in 2020,” Biden said. “He can’t accept the fact that he lost, it’s literally driving him crazy.”

He said that he has "talked to Trump associates" who said Trump "doesn't want to serve time."

You can't cut any taxes or programs to fund your idea. Nothing else in your government is going to change. It can't be a tax that you avoid somehow. The money comes from you and similar people in your situation. Don't try to get around it in some way.

What would you pay more taxes to support?

Looks like the missile hit a radar dish.

Satellite imagery released over the past 24 hours has revealed evidence of probable damage at an Iranian air base following an Israeli strike in the early hours of Friday morning.

Iran says the attack involved drones that were neutralised by air defences.

An Umbra Space image captured after Friday's strike shows damage and debris around one component - probably a radar - which has also shifted position slightly.

This assessment was confirmed by an optical satellite image captured by Planet which, despite low resolution, shows a scorch mark at the same location.

“As trains — many carrying hazardous material — have grown longer, crews should not be getting smaller,” said Eddie Hall, the president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen union. He praised the FRA for taking the step President Joe Biden promised. Hall said keeping two people in the cab of a locomotive is crucial now that railroads rely on longer trains that routinely stretch for miles.

Looks like it actually was possible to bond the whole amount.

Don Hankey, the billionaire chairman of Knight Insurance Group, told NBC News he was negotiating to post a far heftier bond of $557 million with the Trump Organization when the state Appellate Division lowered the size of the required bond to $175 million.

Despite resounding victories on Super Tuesday, there are indications that Donald Trump is still struggling to get strong, united Republican support, which he may need in the presidential election.

Speaking to CNN about the Super Tuesday results, columnist and political commentator Molly Jong-Fast said: "There is a real 'Never Trump' contingent, and remember, Trump is a primary candidate. He has only ever tried to appeal to Republican primary voters, and he cannot marshal that group together the way he needs to.

"Part of his trick in 2016 was, he got these low-frequency voters out, these people who almost never voted, which is why the polling was so off, and you're just not seeing that same type of enthusiasm."

Separately, over 50 attorneys general from both political parties wrote to Life Corp and its owner and executives on Tuesday as part of the nationwide Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force, warning them to immediately cease any unlawful call traffic or risk being found in violation of consumer protection laws.
