“All they are trying to do is convince us that there is some kind of movement toward where we want,” Siblani said. “But it’s too slow and it’s dragging. It’s more death and casualties that are happening.”

The highest-profile example of the stonewalling came last week when a Palestinian American doctor walked out of a meeting with Biden. But interviews with Muslim and Arab American leaders reveal how that face-to-face protest was only the most conspicuous case of a fracture that has damaged crucial relationships and closed avenues needed to repair them.

But the situation presents a challenge for a president who believes in the political power of personal relationships and has prized his history of sitting down with opponents and critics. It could also jeopardize his reelection this year, with some Muslims warning they are unwilling to support Biden even it that risks returning Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, to the White House.

Salam Al-Marayati, who lives in Los Angeles and leads the Muslim Public Affairs Council, described the attitude as, “Forget them. They have to learn a lesson. And if they lose, that’s the lesson they should learn.”

Sorry... "At least the guy announcing a genocidal dictatorship says what he means" is a reason why he should win?

Besides i believe we deserve to suffer if trump gets elected

Then I'm guessing you're not brown or queer.

Nope, I just believe that keeping people alive is more important and that if people don’t realize that then you can burn with us.

It's not going to be an "us." It's going to be people aren't you.

The truth is, you believe they deserve to suffer on your behalf for the successful election of someone they probably didn't vote for.

And because you're neither brown nor queer, you'll be fine while they get marched into camps.

And when you refuse to be a camp guard, I hope you remember that you think they deserve to suffer.

Yeah yeah yeah? We’ve danced tho dance already.

You believe quality of life is more important than being alive, I disagree.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

No, you believe other people should sacrifice their lives for your benefit. Because, again, you will be fine.

[-] NoIWontPickAName@kbin.earth 1 points 6 months ago

How the fuck do I benefit from any of this?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

All white, cishet people, especially men, will benefit from a Trump presidency. By design. You either are very ignorant of what Trump and his Project 2025 handlers have planned or you are being willfully naïve about it.

But more importantly, there is a very low chance that you will die because of a Trump presidency. And I think you know that since you haven't even attempted to claim your own life is at risk.

Good job, armchair Che Guevara.

Ok. Sounds like I win then!

You know who doesn’t win under either of them?

All of the dead kids.

You do you brother, I’m going to do me.

We will see who wins I guess.

I’m figure we will both lose since trump will probably get elected, hopefully that will make everyone realize not to ignore us next time.

If we burn, you burn with us!
