You can wash sheets on the towel setting.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 5 days ago (5 children)

People use those settings? It all goes through the heavy soiled gauntlet for me

[–] bugbear@lemmy.sdf.org 38 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Maybe others don't heavily soil their sheets

[–] alk@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago

This made my day

[–] riskable@programming.dev 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (3 children)

No, you misunderstand: They're washing by passing their stuff through gauntlets.

[–] bugbear@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ah, that makes so much sense now!

To be clear though, the arcade machines or the gloves?

[–] riskable@programming.dev 3 points 4 days ago

The arcade machines are superior because they can handle four at a time!

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago

A dirty gauntlet at that. Not sure how that helps for laundry, but everyone has their own process.

Like gauntlets without fingertips? Driving gauntlets?

[–] Meatwagon@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You don't have a peeing section in your bed?

[–] bugbear@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 4 days ago

Of course not, I pee in my wellies in the closet like a civilised person!

Having children makes you shit the bed‽ 😲 I don't think I want any of those then.

[–] saigot@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

that is probably making your clothes age out faster than they need to (and takes longer and uses more power/water).

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm mostly riffing on the mr lovestein comic, I don't actually do that

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 5 points 5 days ago

I don't do that either.
Because I look at that written before buying and then don't buy it.

[–] TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I wash clothes when the hamper is full, about once every two weeks. Everything together (except whites) longest wash, hot water.

Whatever comes out the other side goes back in the closet for the next round.

People make a big deal about buying clothes, washing clothes, folding clothes, organizing closets, matching clothes, shoes, belts, accessories, brands, who wears what when, blah, blah, blah.

Weather and society permitting, I wouldn't even wear clothes. Fuck clothes.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Same but I wash the blacks on their own so they don't get fizzes from the colors. My blacks are black and my whites are white.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

For EU folks: the Eco setting actually cleans the most thoughly

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I assume it was supposed to be "thoroughly" but I like "thoughly", it should be a word.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Oh god not another one of those tough thorough thought ones xD

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

I use the bulky setting for sheets, blankets, and towels (probably similar to towel setting) not because it washes differently, it doesn’t, but because it has different thresholds to consider the load balanced during spin, and spins it to different speeds. I want my washer to last, so I use it properly with big heavy stuff.

I also use the sanitary setting when I wash underpants and post-bidet towels, but that’s because it superheats the water. Everything else gets washed on tap cold, regular cycle.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 5 points 5 days ago

Yeah but then your sheets will be extra absorbent and you’ll get dry skin.

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 2 points 4 days ago

Look at the millionaire that has a towel setting.
