President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the attendees of a National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the White House would be among the first people to walk the floor of the ballroom he is building at the White House. But his invitation came with a warning.
“Don’t fall over the edge because it’s a long way down,” Trump said. “And only Hispanic could survive that fall.”
Trump said that the attendees needed to exercise caution because there was “no fencing ... no nothing” at the construction site.
Some attendees of the celebration in the East Room cheered in response to Trump’s comment. Trump spoke for nearly an hour to his Hispanic supporters, as polling shows Latino voters who supported him in the 2024 elections are abandoning him.
“I’m not overly worried,” Trump said about the prospect of a guest falling, before pivoting back to his midterm message. “Again, we got to get out and vote. ... We have to turn this around.”
It's the same way that people think Stalin was a dictator, when he had an entire party apparatus that had developed with and around him over the course of the Russian Civil War, the Party Succession Schisms of the 30's and WWII. It took decades to develop a party that was semi in lock step with Stalin, and Stalin himself objected to having that much central sway in the party, constantly trying to divert decisions away from himself, sometimes to his own detriment and the detriment of his legacy.
If Trump isn't experiencing that perceived level of power and respect at all times constantly he feels that he doesn't have enough. Because he doesn't understand the actual level of pressure that creates, because he is just as much of a deep-state puppet as any Obama or Biden, he just wants to feel like he is making decisions and is important.
