i think in Dragon Age a bunch of zealot racists walked into God's crib just to see if they can and turned everything Gold decrepit so pretty close yea

IIRC that ended up getting retconned a lot in later entries, but I never played Veilguard so I can't say for sure.

Yes, the antagonist in Inquisition said the golden city was already blighted, and in Veilgaurd you learn the true story of what happened.
