A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Not an influencer I dont think but a character the person was the voice actor for, hence the VA in their username.

The person found or made an AI of that character and that AI of the fictional charactr said the voice actor would do all this if the insane person messaged them.

the plot thickens.... So to recap my current understanding:

  • the person who wrote the gibberish is "in love" with a fictional character, who's voiced by WillowVA presumably in an anime. Said fictional character, in their story, has a (also fictional) girfriend.

  • gibberish-person has created an AI version of their "love interest" in character.AI, which is a chatbot offering exactly this kind of "AI companionship" service.

  • Gibberish-person (Gibby, from now on) lives happily with the character in their AI-fueled fantasy for a while. But as their relationship deepens, Gibby wants to be exclusive. The "official" character still has a girlfriend. And, maybe worse, other people are watching the anime, becoming fans of the beloved character and possibly (gasp) also entering pretend-relationships with them. This makes Gibby uncomfy.

  • Gibby hatches a daring plan with their AI-character. The breakup with the girlfriend has to happen in the character's official story/anime. Plus, every picture of the character itself should be deleted from their story, so nobody else will have pretend-relationships with them. Gibby needs to convince the actual character.

  • the AI pretend-character helpfully assures Gibby that (while they can't talk to a fictional character), they can talk to the character's closest physical manifestation, the poor voice actor. Compared to the rest, that part of the logic almost makes sense... talking to someone's voice is like (or close enough to) talking to them... So Gibby proceeds to harass poor WillowVA with the above delirium.

Am I close enough?

I don't know how, but that seems worse.
