Time to annoy the final fantasy fans.

I like 13, and lightning returns. 13-2 is extremely boring filler content where the story takes place in a 5 minute window in the ending cutscene of 13. 13 is how imagined my favourite movie, spirits within, as a video game because its still the best looking corridor ever put to the ps360 generation and i legit like the story and characters. Lightning returns continues to be a fever dream, it had a vibe i cant describe at all.

15 is my favourite gay coded boyband romp and I just love their outfits and car.

16 i love me some CLOIV REDFEEELD. Its what an E3 trailer from 15 years ago would be if it was a video game.

11 and 14 are great but thats cos i love MMOs.

Why do i love these ones? Because deep down i really dont like final fantasy. I bounced off 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 i think 10 was the first one I played and i almost died of boredom. I’ve played them all to completion so nobody can convince me that it gets good at hour 750. But I also say this is evidence that square also seems to hate final fantasy by shifting the games to something else entirely

At a certain point, you're just hurting yourself lol. Life is too short to force yourself to play so many games you don't like. It's why I still haven't played all the Dark Souls games despite them being super popular, either. Maybe one day I will try again, but it won't be forcing myself through so many if I know I don't like them. I'll try one and give it a try and see if it clicks more, and if it doesn't, meh.

But I give you bonus points for liking the ones nobody else does. I'm sure the devs who worked hard on them appreciate it.

You would be right but im a real sicko and play/watch things I don’t like because I don’t like them. I have banks of essays I keep to myself on games, movies and shows that hurt my brain I get a weird kick out of it. My real hobby is complaining about everything and liking the things nobody else likes, for example Two Worlds which is definitively the best RPG ever made and witcher 3 is the worst. I will not elaborate.

sicko-jammin

Two Worlds and it's sequel are fun games. I completed both lol. Also played Sacred 2 with the best music tie in.

I think it was just a case of bad timing, everything was going open world or semi open world, and FF12 was very open, so people didn't like that this one was extremely linear, had it come out a few years earlier or a few years later once people started getting fatigued by big empty open worlds, it probably would've been much more well received.

IIRC the reason it got panned was because it was like running a long corridor, lack of towns and shops and overworld map. You had to play for over half the game before it opened up.

13 is the "dress-up game" right? always wanted to play that one. Killer soundtrack too!

i think you're thinking of X-2 with the dressphere system, it's pretty sick

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

X-2 is great. Don't remember too much about the story except the ending, but the combat system was so fun.

Lightning returns is the dress up lightning game. 13 is the one where everyone was confused because the story was needlessly opaque using silly words for things but actually the story was quite simple. Also the game was one single straight line with no exaggeration at all.

Soundtrack is superb my favourite in the whole franchise

13 was the 22-hour narrow corridor simulator with occasional combat breaks where you had to shift your paradigms to synergize with the thought leaders

have you tried Dissidia? might swing too far in the "not really final fantasy" direction but that's the whole reason i liked it so shrug-outta-hecks

I think Lightning could be good tbh.
