The current/recent bluesky centrist {
|struggle session}--soon to be replaced by whatever happens in michigan--centers on the Sam Vimes "Boots" Theory of Economic Unfairness. It's a direct sequel to their chart-for-dinner fight. We had a nice thread about the theory some time ago.
The fun part about the Bluesky take on it is that the "that is nonsense writing from a fantasy author" crowd is not just doing the "um actually $900 boots are not six times better than $150 boots" thing, they're also actively saying "well yeah obviously $15 bottom of the barrel shoes exist, but who in their right mind would ever buy those? They'd be far better off just saving up for $150 shoes"
