For some reason he's been the archlich architect of the Republicans ghoulishness but also I guess the governor of Kentucky can straight up appoint a replacement and, you guessed it, they're a Democrat!

The Kentucky republicans passed a state law in 2024 saying "no he can't" but that law conflicts with their own constitution so IMO it's very much a "yes he can"
