The population under scrutiny is oblivious to the existence of the science of Psychohistory. The time periods dealt with are in the region of 3 generations. The population must be in the billions (±75 billions) for a statistical probability to have a psychohistorical validity.

I loved the Asimov's books, but the TV show Foundation is kinda mediocre.

It's a fun enough sci-fi show in it's own right, I like the whole Brother Dawn/Day/Dusk thing. But it is not really a faithful adaptation at all, and is super frustrating to watch when they just change key story elements.
