PSA: colon syntax emojies don't work outside hexbear (hexbear.net)

Just wanted everyone to know that using emojies through the colons, i.e. :example:, does not work outside of hexbear. Using the colon to find an emoji and then clicking on it so it transforms into ![name]() format does work.

It's not a problem for me, I know most of them, and if I don't I can just open it on hexbear to check. But I still wanted you all to know.

The example in the image is from the c/games sidebar btw.

yeah we keep the colon syntax to support legacy posts from before the big migration. they only work on hexbear ui frontend.

This doesn't effect any posts that get emotes from the emote picker since that puts the proper markdown in.
