I didnt really like the new episode of Invincible. Mark's still on the same character arch and it is so very tiring now.

Same. Last season felt off to me but these first three eps of S4 are bad. It's like 5 mid plots when it should be 2-3 tighter ones with room to actually focus on characters. The only interesting part was Nolan's adolescence flashback and Viltrum smallpox. Everything else felt way overdone, repetitive, and full of tired comic/superhero tropes. The bright side is husbandu Lee Pace gets to talk shit to everyone.I disagree with both of y'all but I've only seen the first episode (but I feel like that was enough to know that "it's the same character arc" isn't a good criticism)
possible spoiler?
I just feel like after the last season Mark should be over it. I dont know what I am expecting because I read the comics and honestly they were also mid. But this whole "I am depressed because I must kill and strong people are hurting me" arch is really boring. After watching Big Brain Guy break my mothers arm in half those philosophies would go out the window out the window immediately. But not Mark, hes gotta mope some more as people get murdered cause he doesn't want to stop the murderer permanentlyYeah but watching S04E01

He's "over that" in that he's willing to do it, but that doesn't mean that it's still going to just happen, he still has to go through the steps of judging whether or not it's appropriate. Like the Dinosaur guy, he's doing the math in his head, it just isn't really a clear answer, and then he's interrupted before he gets to it.I don't think it's him being "on the same (place) on an arc," like yea it's the same character arc (because it's the same character, lol) but it's still continued from what happened previously
I'm expecting to turn on episode 2 though and be annoyed by everyone ELSE acting like he's a monster for killing Rus Livingston when, yknow, from his perspective he's hearing "one second left until the dome goes down," he doesn't know bulletproof is gonna be there half a second later with his disruptor thing
Yeah its the same character and all its just not a good arch or interesting at all. Its not even complicated philosphically because we see the ramifications of his actions instantly every time and he is sadly proven wrong with the way his reality actually works. Im about to watch the second one tonight and honestly I hope it does get better. But at this point I pretty much watch the show for the fight scenes while I'm waiting for more Star Trek. I kind of have the same expectations as you going into episode 2 and I'm just looking forward to Nolan and thr One Eye'd Hunk returning.
