Nobody involved in breadtube actually read The Conquest of Bread I am convinced. Or at least there was a serious lack of content about friends who have a small shanty greenhouse producing anomalous quantities of grapes.

I own it but I dont seem to read blob-no-thoughts

That said, one time I opened it to a random page and he was making the argument that the organic development of railroads in Europe that were standardized and made efficient by industry competitors as an example of the potential of non-hierarchal decision making.

Made sense to me, I think?! Mostly tho I think about that when I'm speaking about nationalizing amazon.

I don't think most of them were ever explicitly anarchist or communist, just that kind of vague western leftist of "I wish some of our government's "murder children with bombs" money went back into more public goods."

Everyone forgets that the label was created by radlib redditors circa 2017 as a means to identify channels that were not actively components of the fash pipeline being aggresively pushed by youtube at the time. It was just about wanting to enjoy youtube slop with less risk of getting milkshake ducked... not trying to prop up youtubers up as the vanguard of the revolution.

Of course this created an audience which the same youtube algorithm and incentives ran it's course to simultaneosly radicalize (in the sense of needing increasingly hotter takes to stand out) and subsume what critique existed.

While breadtubers are usually bad the youtube landscape in general has improved from what it was back when any given video was a coinflip as to whether is would promote white replacement cospiracies... I think? tbh nowdays I only watch youtube videos by rss or hexbear links so I dunno.
