I heard my parents get this from their favorite right-wing talk show host. Apparently, not just any form of patriotism, but US patriotism in particular is "apolitical", and thus there is no issue with supporting it.

Note that these are the same people who will insist that the media is getting taken over by malicious people promoting a "woke" agenda but praise commercials which glorify the United States and its supposed values.

It goes without saying that being a patriot for the United States out of all other countries is political, especially given the current regime. Being a "patriot" who supports the establishment in the US is no different from being the same in Nazi Germany.

the most overt evidence of a hegemonic ideology is a cultural value presented as natural/divinely ordained, making all non-compliant positions as profane, subversive, dishonest, or a form of insanity.

  • Our leader was granted the right to rule by the one true God.
  • Men were created to be the head of the household.
  • Pride in the nation-state administrative unit is normal.
  • Capitalism is Natural Selection.

people who parrot shit like this are walking around with a tank strapped to their back, huffing medical-grade ideology with every breath. their entire cosmology was invented and inserted into their thoughts by ubiquitous institutions over time, and requires reinforcement multiple times, daily to maintain their orthodoxy.

The constitution is garbage-tier white supremacy on paper. The Bible is mid at best and indirectly responsible for a ton of shitty things that have hurt me and my friends and family. And people around here worship both like their brains don't work at all.
