Maybe in this story humans evolve or are modified to have smaller hands that work better with advanced technology. It's giving me a vibe like the movie Zardoz Movie poster for 'Zardoz' from 1974, depicting Sean Connery wearing sashes and small briefs and pointing as his hand is obscured by the glowing like a star, standing on a stylized field in the form of an outstretched hand in front of a massive mystical floating stone face.
