Also try micromodal which is even softer than bamboo!

Interesting, never heard of this till now. May become my new go-to.

Internet rabbit hole summary:

  • made out of Beechwood
  • subjectively ~10% softer than bamboo
  • brand name is owned by an Austrian company that follows strictest Euro regulations incl:
    • 95-99% closed-loop chemical re-use
    • sustainable tree sourcing in European forests with neither irrigation nor pesticides

Jesus Christ, it's like ecocide not to switch to the softer alternative.

Moreover, to my surprise, the prices are about the same. Top and bottom are each in the ~$35-45 range, or an oversize sleep shirt for ~$50-60

Down sides, apparently Bamboo:

  • is sturdier
  • breathes better

Anyway, ordered a identical pair off Etsy for myself and the wife. Will be fun to compare.
Thank you, Fedi Person!

Awesome, hope you and the wife love them! And I didn't even know about the sustainable sourcing, that's so cool to hear.

I got a set of micromodal boxer briefs a year ago because they were deeply discounted (new product launch) and they were such a game changer that I bought a few more sets at full price and threw away all my cotton ones. They all still look like the day I got them, no pilling or visible wear. They're currently the only micromodal clothes I own, but I wouldn't wear anything else for underwear.
