Wonder if conservatives knew they were voting to destroy all America's allegiances. Or if their brains were incapable of thinking that far ahead.

I'm gonna go with option 2.

  1. they don't know what that word means
  2. they don't care what that word means
  3. they think america doesn't need anybody but america
  4. fuck anybody that is not america
[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They also seem to think "fuck at least 2/3 of America".

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

They don't consider those people "America".

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Have you talked to a Republican or MAGA?

They cheer on destroying relations with Europe.

Unfortunately it’s not a position only MAGA takes. Horse shoe theory is real. There are extreme lefties who hate NATO and EU so much that they rather see the west fall completely apart and fall into chaos, since they think they will come on top when we crawl from underneath the rubble.

[–] Koarnine@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Right but is that 'horse shoe theory' because it just sounds like there are multiple reasons to support things.

Horse shoe theory is nonsense.

I dislike NATO since its a US protection racket and I dislike EU because they're forcing chat control and cowtowing to the US.

I dont want the 'west to fall', I want to be free and sovereign from the US' war machine.

I don't believe we'll naturally rise above if things collapse, but I do believe we'll be dead before too long if the US continues forward with its acts.

Being pincered by Russia on the east and the US on the west is a pretty terrifying concept - if only China would save us.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah we need to change things from within rather than burn it down to the ground and hope for some foreign savior who will probably act in it's own interest. Like the reason why the EU wants to turn itself slowly into a police state is only because the people have been voting for lib-right and Christian democrats for the last 30 years or so. If we had center left and left wing parties in power for that period instead the EU would have looked a lot different today. Change is still possible.

The biggest psyop ever is Americans believing uncritically that they are the “freest”. Free to go into medical debt, free to have no access to healthcare, free to have 800,000 unhoused people, free to have entire towns of meth heads, free for kids to get shot up in school, free to be unhinged racist, homophobic and transphobic pieces of shit, free to disappear their own citizens, free to have a population that’s statistically morbidly obese, free to be mostly illiterate, free to have massive wealth inequality, free to never have dental care, free to elect a reality tv show host with dementia as their leader - twice 🤡

[–] saimen@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago

Their only option was Trump or a black woman so they chose the "lesser evil" which (again) turns out to be the much bigger evil.

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 3 days ago

I mean, they still cant grasp that or what it means.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

Most Trump supporters probably can't even name more than 10 non-english speaking countries that aren't Mexico, Russia or China, and one their answers would probably be "Africa".

International politics doesn't even come close to their thought processes during election time.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago

Most stopped processing after "make America great again". They really were thinking shit would just magically get great without any care as to the how and for who

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

I honestly believe they didn't think that trump was actually going to go through with a lot of it, and that 'he talks a lot of shit, and triggers the libs' and that's it.

I think they just wanted four more years of Trump term 1 which was retarded but certainly not this horiffic.

There is still a wildly vocal support base online so it's hard to hear the voters who have silently realised their mistake.

And yes it has cost allegiance, that won't come back as easily this time.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Things I'm seeing online are like ... "he does what he says/he keeps his promises" "better for the economy" ... fucked that none of those make sense and you'd have to be an idiot to believe

So many believe in the whole American exceptionalism shit so I think they believe some of their shit is their birthright or something.
