Two people shot by federal agents in Portland, Oregon, local police and FBI say
Two people are hospitalized after they were shot by federal agents, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.
It is not immediately clear what their conditions are. The FBI Portland office said in a post on X that the shooting involved Customs and Border Protection agents and they are leading the investigation.
Today at 2:18 p.m. PT, Portland police officers responded to the 10200 block of Southeast Main Street for a report of a shooting, the release said. Officers confirmed federal agents had been involved in the shooting, they said.
At 2:24 p.m., officers responded to a man and a woman who had been shot near Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside, where they were transported to the hospital, the release said. It is not immediately clear why the different locations were reported.
“We are still in the early stages of this incident,” said Chief Bob Day. “We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.”
CNN has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for further information.

A Bluesky post
KATU ABC reporting the shooting happened by an awning at the medical center where there must be video cameras so there should be footage of the shooting.
The lack of clarity and the information chaos is high but I tend to agree with the poster.
First governor to use their National Guard to expel Ice is gonna be president if there are ever elections again
Gavin Newsom is furiously calling up his consultants to see how he can appear to be first to "limit" ICE/CBP but not actually do anything.
"Is there any way we can meme ICE out of California?"
Anchor Mike: "In an explosive development Gavin Newsom's press office has just made a crushing tweet. It begins with all caps 'ORANGE MAN BAD AND ICE MUST FOLLOW THE LAW'. We now go live to our Social Media Guy."
Social Media Guy. "Mike, it's trending and hot."
Anchor Mike: "How trending and how hot?"
Social Media Guy. "Very trending and very hot. The tweet appears to indicate Governor Newsom is attempting massive ownage in his plan to 'limit' ICE's activity in the state. Also - Mike - don't forget that using all caps is Gavin Newsom's press office's SOP."
Anchor Mike: "Oh, that's right! Ha-ha-ha."
Social Media Guy. "I know - right? Ha-ha-ha." He goes into serious news voice. "Details are thin on the ground but experts I consulted say..."
Yes, yes, yes, but how many people died, how many bullets were used, and how many weapons were fired? There are a lot of bets riding on this, and members in the White House stand to make a lot of money if their bets win.
DNC strategists already thinking up ways to get him to (appear to) compromise and instead find a way to sell giving ICE more resources and permanent lodging as the progressive solution
Newsom announces his ECEI project with great fanfare because of course he does.
"ECEI heralds a new era in immigration enforcement. Strong but firm. And you can't spell E-C-E-I without ICE! Empowering Compliance by Empowering ICE™ is all about..."
Fuck Gavin Newsom. He sent special CHP squads out to cities to "prove we don't need national guard" or some shit. So fighting authoritarianism with a different authoritarianism? Im deathly afraid of what ICE would do under Newsom's control
The one time in American history when a state militia was on the side of good:
Davis Waite, a Populist, was the governor who called in the militia. He was ratfucked by his Republican legislature and lost a close election later that year. Ten years later, when a pro-miners' union candidate was close to winning the governor's office, they outright stole the election:
given the year, Populist here means the sort-of protosocialist farmers (and some other shit like monetary policy) party. The conflation of the Populists with right-wing populism is a smear by the bourgeois blah blah you know the drill.
I don't see it happening tbh. Democratic voters chose the neoliberal centrism of Biden over even the extremely watered down social democracy of Bernie.
Dems are too detached from reality to be this based.
Kotek's a huge fucking coward and so's the city leadership so it won't happen in Portland.
We're not at expulsion yet, but MN is staging them rn:
