i think this is supposed to mean "i am speaking from 20 years of experience" and not "hey i just figured out this extremely obvious thing"

I like to imagine he was looking over his notes on all his students for the past twenty years and came to a sudden and shocking realisation. the chef from ratatouille reads a letter and looks increasingly panicked the more he reads.
