For the record, I didn't report your comment.
But to directly answer the argument you are making, this is more non-engagement with circumstances. Do I think it would be cool for Britain to have a communist revolution? Sure. Can I point to many points in the past where I wish that such a thing happened? Of course. Would starting a communist revolution in England in 1944 be a good idea? Not at all, and in fact those communists would be acting as tools of fascism, because they are undermining the country as it is trying very earnestly to fight off the Nazi incursion.
Venezuela is currently in a state of active slaughter being conducted by the most powerful military in the world. There is no such thing as a regime change amidst this process that is going to help it. America is not attacking Venezuela for being "authoritarian," nor would it stop its attack if the country was magically taken over by whatever your preferred type of nominal socialist is. But the takeover would not be magic, as magic does not exist, and the process of it happening would make Venezuela much more vulnerable to becoming a much worse place than you could ever imagine, whether a new-age Batista regime or a failed state littered with open-air slave markets like Libya.
The complaints coming from members of liberal parties about "dictatorship" don't even have that much merit, because they have no connection to actual progressive movements in the country, just support for neoliberal color-revolutionaries.
Thanks for this, Leftcoms really frustrate me with their desire to see colour revolutions in socialist states, all because socialism in the real world isn't at all like their hypothetical perfect idealistic socialism, and they somehow think that a country under constant threat from external capital should wage a massive civil war, because that will somehow make things better, not worse, for the people there.
They frustrate me too, but I struggle to ascribe direct political importance to this case* because they clearly were poorly socialized in navigating their ASD (I am not saying this casually), producing serious social-cognitive difficulties, and are also almost certainly a minor. We can speak of their nonsense as a symptom of this awful leftcom trend, but I view them much more as just a victim of a society only even marginally concerned with socializing allistic people, among other relevant problems.
Frankly, I think addressing this accepting the ultimately false framing that this was a political dispute rather than a mundane social difficulty was a mistake on my part, but I'm glad you got something out of it, so it wasn't a total waste.
This is the second time this month I've encountered a case like this, though Dylan was much more polite about it than the other one, who was coping by being a complete asshole.
*in terms of leftcom political analysis or whatever. Obviously I go on to talk about different political significance.
Yeah, I was speaking about my frustrations with leftcoms in general, not this specific person. I tried to avoid engaging with them because I would've just gotten rude and snarky with them and it wouldn't have helped anyone. I'm still not 100% convinced they weren't just an elaborate troll though, but benefit of the doubt is important, and they weren't really hostile like a troll would be.
