Johnson might have gone with a simple affirmative. Instead, the Louisiana Republican indignantly said, “Do I know,” and waved a Hawaiian “shaka,” or “hang loose,” sign with just the thumbs and pinkies extended. (One of his hands, however, had three fingers up.)

No, he's doing the metal sign wrong. You don't put your thumb out when doing the sign. That means "I love you" in American Sign Language.
