Its amazing that they did the interview like this. Trump sitting behind a desk and Zohran standing next to him like he's the teacher. Im not much of a Jack Donnaghey business body language expert guy, but conducting an interview along with someone while being at waist height with them does send an image. Get Mandami a chair.
It's just one of the silly white house protocols: when the president is sitting at his desk in the oval office nobody can sit behind or beside.
