do you think that in a communist society, the internet would be a bit more decentralized? also, have you heard of "reds! a revolutionary timeline"? it's an althistory timeline about what would happen if leon czolgosz gets arrested before he shoots mckinley, culminating in the us becoming a socialist country a lot like the ussr but with a more democratic and libertarian twist. seriously!
“The internet” is just at its core a network, and having a big networked library/archive sounds great for central planning.
what about cybersyn?
Exactly. That’s what the internet will resemble under communism.
Honestly, I don't see a timeline where the internet doesn't become a centralised tool for extreme surveillance.
It's why it was made in the first place. Besides, any real socialist revolution needs an iron grip on any mass media, digital or otherwise, to track down and stamp out counter revolutionary movements.
Decentralised networks would be a catastrophic weak spot and a breeding ground for fascists.
The golden age of the internet is over and the era only served as a means to get everyone on the grid for surveillance purposes. Now, governments all over the world are taking off the masks and reigning in any free use of the internet through waging war on privacy, free speech and imposing Chat Control everywhere.
The internet was always a weapon for class rule. It can not and will never be anything else.
i think the internet being used for extreme surveillance counts as coercion which is against the non-aggression principle (DON'T use force and coercion to anyone). seriously!
