Hmm, the numbers at the top don't correspond to the numbers on the graph. Don't know what's up with that.
I'm playing around with the parameters, and it looks even worse if you go by daily: https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide/#daily-20250918-20251018
Going by daily counts, there's actually more Windows 7 than Windows 10. It paints a picture of people hating Windows 11 and merely tolerating Windows 10 until it's EOL.
Digging the data even more, apparently the major boost in Windows 7 adoption comes from Asia: https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/asia#daily-20250918-20251018 But the intriguing part of it is if you try to search by individual Asian countries, most of them actually have insignificant Windows 7 adoption. The ones I could find that have not insignificant Windows 7 adoption are
Japan: https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/japan#daily-20250918-20251018
China: https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/china#daily-20250918-20251018
Hong Kong: https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/hong-kong#daily-20250918-20251018
Every other Asian country I tried (India, Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines) doesn't have significant Windows 7 adoption.
