Wait do you say this because linguine is superior or do you hate long pasta
Firstly: all long pasta is an inferior vehicle for the main purpose of pasta, moving sauce from the bowl into your body while providing additional heft and texture.
Second: spaghetti is the worst long pasta shape. The worst pasta shape overall is penne lisce.
The best pasta shape depends on the purpose. Farfalle and orzo have their best uses in pasta salad but wouldn't make sense in a hot sauce-heavy dish.
The argument doesn't apply to Asian cuisine where noodles have a different role.

Your arguments make sense, I must admit I do love the taste of bare pasta and I'm quiet fond of how linguine feel in the mouth, so even if it's not optimal sauce-wise I love it
Might be worth mentioning that I eat bourgeois pasta which taste a lot better
