This surely ends in men not getting laid. What the fuck is this world?

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 56 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They don't care. The end goal for a lot of these Christian Nationalists who literally are writing laws now is effectively the Handmaid's Tale or worse - all those incels who spent the Obama years memeing about "government mandated girlfriends" might actually make arranged government marriages, or severe economic or political consequences for single women over a certain age, an actual thing.

I recently watched The Handmaid's Tale for the first time. Very good show, but god damn was I uncomfortable.

Which is good because honestly with that show, that's the point

[–] white_nrdy@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago

Oh yeah, it 100% is and it's very well done. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, because it was eye opening.

Rape is an option for them, so I don't think they care.

Fucking rancid.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Yup, it’s no wonder they no longer care about human trafficking

You think women are going to be allowed choice?

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago

Ahh yes the "your body, my choice" crowd is famous for their understanding of consent

[–] Beebabe@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Not laid with consent at least. But yes, many women are pulling away from dating because the risks are already not worth it depending on where they live.

Easy. The next step is declaring that refusing sex is an abortion. Problem solved.
