you can also put them much closer together safely.
Yes, and since you don't have motors in back cars anymore you can just make some kind of door to walk between them. But also putting that many people close together might cause issues so you need someone to supervise them, call them a conductor (or a guard if you're British)
Pretty sure we call them conductors over here too
