It depends on the restaurant, but sometimes an app is the only reason ill get fast food. The mcdonalds app has a bunch of daily deals with free fries drinks or whatever. Now they know what i eat and have my gmail address. oh no the horror.

You may be fine with it, but I would rather not be harassed about installing an app that tracks me.

the issue isn't those two datapoints in isolation, it's aggregating them with all the other data corpos have on you and whatever tracking shit you agreed to in the eula you didn't read.
