How do these people envision economic collapse? The Russian economy surely has hardships, but what, workers will suddenly stop working? Companies will simultaneously close? Russia doesn't have an economic bubble or anything, I'm sure it can sustain this situation for quite some time with at worst progressively degrading conditions, but what kind of collapse do they think will happen?

It's funny, because one of the talking points among libs in the early 2010's was about how Russia was working to make its economy more focused on their military production and more insular, so as to be able to more capably produce military needs should the country face sanctions; I think it was a byproduct of the Russo-Georgian war in 2008.

Yes, I just used it as shorthand for military production, edited for a bit of clarity

It was a more common talking point during Obama's second term iirc
