There are plenty of things politicians do to be diplomatic, this is just one of them.
Perform a religious prayer of a religion they don't adhere to?
This is not normal whatsoever.
Trump swears by the bible but doesn't adhere to it, how is this any different?
He doesn't pretend to be Jewish.
It's common for Christian politicians to visit other religious sites such as mosques or synagogues. But actively performing a prayer is a completely different matter.

Sure but the question is not how the religious ritual is performed but why US presidents and their entourage are performing it when it's clearly not their religion.
