Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

They also conducted armed patrols in predominantly black neighborhoods as overt public safety and visual deterrence to prevent racist cops from oppressing minorities.

If you did this today, it would work well because it would deter ICE from randomly detaining brown people, since fascists have small dicks and are cowards.

Too bad democrats and Lefties don't own any guns, and are toothless.

Edit: fun fact, black people owning guns, and the Black Panther party, is the primary reason Republicans backed by the NRA, passed gun restriction laws across the country. They don't want you to own them, and you limp ballsacks agreed with them. Now all we can do is wave signs and waggle fingers at protests. Fascists only respect violence.

Why are we discussing fash genitals? They give us so much else to attack, why are you making me think about their penis?

[–] Unknown_0671@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 20 hours ago

very insightful to use genital insults. that makes the point far better and makes me insecure so ill go ahead and agree to be the good one and not the disagreeing genital-metaphor /s

I honestly don't understand where this idea that we don't have guns comes from. Sure, i don't have a wall full, but I've only got two hands.

Okay but what gun do you use the next day, while those two are at the cleaners?

What about your skull gun? The holdout you keep in your shoe? Or your ornamental gun rack huns to show how many guns you have to everyone who sees your car?

Two just isnt enough.

Decades of propaganda intentionally conflating the inherently right-wing, neoliberal establishment as being left-wing.

we've got some years of neoliberal 2a infringements to live down. you're right, but there's a reason cops feel way more comfortable doing no-knock raids and shooting into black people's homes than Bradleigh McGoatfucker's trailer

And that reason is systemic racism.

Well, that and ruby ridge, waco, oklahoma city. Youll notice after tjose three, enforcement on the right basically stopped cold.

To the point an anti abortion terrorist straight up bombed the 96 olympics and they did nothing for years, while he kept bombing clinics.

Turns out violence does in fact work.

fun fact, they had a lot of teenagers joining who were insistent on being given access to a gun. the older cadres would refuse to hand them a gun until they were up to date on their reading material and had proven themselves by doing exemplary fieldwork over a sustained period of time.

buying a gun by itself won't do anything but act as a trophy. the reason their public carry campaign had profound impacts was because they organized their communities to act as a united front first.

also the most radical chapters knew how to respect their own autonomy over the national leadership's sometimes nonsensical dictats. horizontal organizing and direct action gets the job done.
