RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

What was your latest bad idea?

I drink a cold brew this morning, because it was sitting on my desk from yesterday... Cold brew concentrate. Then after finishing my drink I went to the sauna.... This was not a good decision.

The sauna exercises the cardiovascular system

Coffee stimulates the cardiovascular system (in a different way)

I did not feel good! I only lasted half my normal time. I wont be mixing coffee and extreme heat again.

At least the LLMs are better here then searching for symptoms on google!

People hating on LLMs so hard I think they haven't looked at how bad Google has gotten. I'm not saying either is any substitute for medical knowledge, but Google is fucking useless any more.

Shit, doing your own research on Google is what got us anti-vax and 9/11 truthers and such. Not downplaying the issues with LLMs, but I do agree with this statement right here.

People who blindly hate LLMs for search results but don't hate old search algorithms would hate to see under the hood

Tokens map-reduced into a weighted matrix VS a weighted matrix map-reduced into tokens

LLMs used for finding KEYWORDS or TOPICS is just acting like a highly specific search engine, like google before they got SEOed to death.

Absolutely not, unfortunately.

example

Probabilistic token generation based on large bodies of text is exactly where LLMs shine, its a narrow area, and is not "intelligence", but its much better at the classic webmd search of "here are my symptoms" what could it be?

It fits perfectly into first pass diagnosis of symptoms.
