Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I have been told multiple times on Lemmy now that it isn't a genocide because no one has been murdered yet.

Similarly, I was told a couple of days ago that America isn't a fascist dictatorship because they aren't shooting protesters yet.

People will keep their head in the sand until they're loaded into a boxcar themselves. Possibly even then.

anyone denying the long ongoing latin american genocide has their head either in the sand or up their ass. every dipshit who said things couldn't get worse than weimar joe or kamala doesn't understand just how bad things can get and elected for things to get worse all for the sake of their conscience. it hadn't shit to do with what would actually make things better or worse. they didn't want to help gazans. they wanted to feel good about themselves.

so. now i implore you, reader. the election was the chance to do something the gentle way. now it's time to do things the uncomfortable way. monitor the police and tell your marginalized peers what they're up to. hide people. fight. grow food and share it. don't be a fucking coward. get out here and help us help as many people survive as we can. voting was literally the least you could do. now it's time to do a little more

Yeah I just typed this yesterday and it's worth putting here too: in the 1930s in Germany there was a group that basically tasked itself with the protection of democracy and they waited for a signal from leadership that never came. Because leadership was waiting for the one moment. Don’t wait.

US prisons are lethal.

Plus the body count is in the hundreds of thousands if you include his previous 4 years.

So there's no genocide because of U.S. prison conditions? That's what you're arguing here?

Sorry... you're denying the Holocaust happened because of German prison conditions?

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What? No I'm saying the US has been building concentration camps for years where people are routinely raped, tortured, starved, and murdererd.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unless you are denying that Trump is instigating a genocide, what exactly is your point?

Did you just feel like telling someone at random about conditions in American prisons?

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think they're just stating that we've already had concentration camps, things are just ramping up ig. 🤷‍♀️

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't think anyone is suggesting otherwise. We had them in WWII.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not everyone knows this history, especially people who are not US or Japanese Americans

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're very snarky today, aren't you

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Providing useful contextual information to a global audience isnt what I'd consider "snarky"

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Eh, that's on me, I think I was reading too much into things, my bad

[–] auraithx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

Just like MAGA on Palestine, the tankies will deny it the whole time.
