There's something so effective about this current iteration of treat obsession and culture war obsession that I'm not even sure the billionaires need an FDR pressure release valve in the near future, within America at least. It really seems like Westerners are convinced that things will be different while they keep electing the same people, all because their comfort war criminals keep promising them more treats or a more effective campaign to defeat their culture war enemies.

i don't even think the treat pacification is deliberate and is just as hapless as the rest of it. if that was true, the bear minimum would be to keep food prices low. but the rot and ideology are subsuming it all.

they'll forget the supply of treats is the last bulwark and fuck it up somehow as well. it will only mask deteriorating material conditions for so long because they won't know when to stop taking, even from their own core

i really do think there's a desperate race to obsolete human labor (whether they pull it off or not) and the treats are just a short term distraction from the coming classicide

Well Trump ran on inflation and promised to give treats back by punishing the rest of the world. If he actually implements the tariffs the opposite will happen, of course, inflation will get so much worse. But I think fundamentally this plan of telling people you'll get them the treats and the culture war W is enough to keep the vast majority distracted.

oh yeah no doubt. it's the #1 motivator for USians that are downwardly mobile and coping

Cant keep food prices low with monopoly

Late stage capitalism gotta rain on all the parades

You can absolutely keep prices low with a monopoly

It just has to be a state monopoly

not even sure the billionaires need an FDR pressure release valve in the near future

i agree. not american but it feels this way in my country too. like since covid hit the capitalists have tightened the screws such a wild amount and a revolution isn't exactly brewing lol. i try to not be doomer and tell myself that's something that can change quickly. but in terms of continuing to raise prices, rents, etc while keeping wages flat, the capitalists have no reason to stop the current rate of that stuff, if anything they will keep accelerating.
