Imagine getting frozen in like 2012 and waking up in 2024.

"Put me back in and set it to hot. Maybe it'll go backwards, maybe it won't. Either way, I'm not staying here"

[-] solidgrue@lemmy.world 23 points 3 months ago

Jeez. That'd be the worst culture shock since Edison electrocuted that poor elephant.

/RIP, Topsy

[-] 14th_cylon@lemm.ee 27 points 3 months ago

topsy was not electrocuted by edison, it is one of the urban legends that will probably never die.

it is still sad story and every time i am hearing it i wish i could personally electrocute few of those fuckers who tortured her through her life.

I appreciate you bringing that up because I had also read the inaccurate version of that story before.

I do not appreciate you taking away my favorite reason to hate Edison, but I'll get over it.

That would be bad. Now imagine say 1995 and then waking. "What the hell happened, things were going great!"

"Donald Trump? The guy from Home Alone 2?!"

Ronald Reagan, the actor?

"That must have been amusing! He's know for being an asshole, but he seems like a harmless clown."

Here's the take I like : The Mayans were right and the world did end in 2012. What we're seeing now is a prolonged death rattle.

[-] ptz@dubvee.org 6 points 3 months ago

I've read that, too, somewhere. I also can't disprove it, and it explains a lot.

[-] Restaldt@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Ever think the sun is just too damn bright since 2012?

"Dont stare at the sun" can you even look anywhere near the sun these days without it searing your retinas?

I miss the yellow sun
