She then meowed right into my mic while I was in a work call.

Found myself among the council this morning.

this is dodo circa 30 sec ago. While typing she zoomed past me to go investigate the other cats food bowls. My room is dirty because I'm currently kicking her out of my closet so I can actually use it as a closet lol
Shes loved zooming around the piles of stuff so far.

I've had Indira since saturday. When I was ready to go to bed today I heard her meow. So I went in and tried to play with her. To my surprise she didn't run for cover immediately and to my very big joy she began play-cuddling with the toy stick. I'm not allowed totouch her directly yet (she even bit me earlier today when I tried) but it's great progress and totally worth staying up late as she even purred a little. Also someone interested contacted the shelter and they'll come here in the next days.

Indira ist seit Samstag bei mir. Als ich mich heute bettfertig gemacht hatte hörte ich sie maunzen. Also bin ich rein zu ihr und hab es mit Spielen versuc ht. Zu meiner Überraschung ist sie diesmal nicht sofort zurückgewichen und zu meiner großen Freude hat sie sogar angefangen mit dem Stab zu schmusen. Ich darf sie noch nicht anfassen (sie hat mich beim Versuch heute sogar gebissen) aber es ist ein toller Fortschritt und absolut wert dass ich länger aufgeblieben bin da sie sogar ein wenig geschnurrt hat. Laut Tierheim kommen die nächsten Tage auch schon Interessenten hier her.

I know this might be a controversial opinion, but I think it’s something that needs to be addressed in my area. It seems like people around here don't really care for their cats, and I wonder if some of the ones I see regularly might be part of a feral colony. I’ve seen over 10 different cats on my small property (not all at once), and recently, when the temperature dropped below -20°C (-4°F), I still saw them hiding under cars. One of the cats appeared to be only a few months old, which is heartbreaking. Another cat is missing its tail, and one has a missing ear. The area also has a lot of skunks and raccoons, which can be dangerous, so I’m concerned for their safety. If these cats have homes, they should definitely be in them. But I’m also worried that the city’s solution might be to just put them all down. What are your thoughts?

Update: I've done some research and found local groups monitor the feral cat population in the area. I am near a shelter (I didn't know that) so it's possible these are shelter cats. I'm just going to work with that shelter to see if thats the case. I have security cam footage of a few of them but not posting pictures for privacy reasons.

Also I'd love to bring them in but I only rent a room here. The owners should prefer I didn't do that so I need to honor that. However if the local shelter thinks it's ok I may set a heated cathouse in the back yard.

So a few days ago I decided to help out our local cat shelter by taking in foster cats. They came to my place and we spoke which cat would be a good fit to my cat to introduce her in a non-shocking way to what's coming in the next (I hope) years to come. They told me that due to superstition black cats are hard to re-home, and that's why they've had Indira for a few months now. She's a one year old shy and calm void. This is a good fit my really calm 11y/o Miez, who is really interested in and friendly to each cat passing through our garden.

Darf ich euch Indira, meine erstes Pflegekätzchen vorstellen? Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich beschlossen dem Tierheim meine Wohnung als Pflegestelle anzubieten. Sie sind dann zu mir gekommen und wir haben besprochen, wie wir meine Katze Miez möglichst schonend drauf vorbereiten was sie in den nächsten (hoffentlich) Jahren erwartet. Sie haben mir dann Indira, ein schüchternes, ruhiges 1j. Kätzchen empfohlen. Sie ist schon einige Monate im Katzenhaus, da schwarze Katzen aufgrund von "die bringen Pech" schlecht zu vermitteln sind. Sie passt für den Einstieg super zu meiner elfjährigen ruhigen Miez, die aber äußerst neugierig und freundlich auf sämtliche Katzen reagiert, die durch unseren Garten strawanzen.

Indira is really shy and after trying some spots she apparently likes the spot behind my monitors a lot. Sims she isn't knowing on any cables i'm fine with it. She only moves from spot to spot when I'm not in the room though.

Indira ist wirklich scheu und nachdem sie ein paar Plätze ausprobiert hat scheint es ihr hinter den Monitoren ganz gut zu gefallen. Sie bewegt sich allerdings nur wenn ich nicht im Raum bin.

Since she's usually stationary I didn't expect her to make a sudden run for it across my apartment under the couch in the living room. This is how she met my cat Miez a lot sooner than planned. Both remained relatively calm. She stayed there for over an hour.

Da sie sich normalerweise nicht bewegt habe ich nicht erwartet dass sie plötzlich Reißaus nimmt und quer durch die Wohnung unter die Couch im Wohnzimmer flüchtet. So ist sie viel früher als geplant meiner Miez begegnet. Beide blieben relativ ruhig. Dort blieb sie für über eine Stunde.

After a detour to the kitchen and some hissing between the cats I managed to redirect her into the room for overnight. Today as she remained out in the open i tried to be friend her with some treats.

Nach einem Umweg über die Küche und etwas Fauchen zwischen den Katzen habe ich es geschafft sie in ihr Zimmer zum Übernachten zu dirigieren. Da sie heute relativ offen sitzen blieb habe ich versucht sie mit etwas Leckerli zu bestechen.

At first it was unsuccessful and she moved for the behind the monitors.

Zuerst erfolglos. Sie wich zurück hinter die Monitore.

However having the tasty smell directly below her nose she couldn't resist anymore.

Mit dem leckeren Geruch direkt unter ihrer Nase konnte sie allerdings nicht mehr widerstehen.

My cat wohnt enter Indiras room so sometimes a stare off happens.

Meine Miez betritt Indiras Zimmer nicht also gibt es manchmal einen Starr-Wettbewerb.

As we heard a noise I went in to check on Indira. The wardrobes have ears.

Nachdem wir ein lautes Geräusch hörten habe ich nachgeschaut. Meinem Kleiderschrank sind Ohren gewachsen.

I expected Indira might find her way up there so I had the ladder ready. She was not amused to see me up there.

Ich hatte erwartet dass ich Indira ihren Weg rauf findet, also hatte ich die Leiter bereitgestellt. Indira war sichtlich nicht erpicht darauf mich da oben zu sehen

Today she caught a cricket that managed to find its way inside the house, and in a manner both cute and horrifying, playfully dismembered it before eating the thing.
