International Criminal Court needs member states to enforce its decisions. So far it has been applied mainly to third world countries. But now that it is being applied to the richer countries, as it should, support is wavering.

We are quite far from a just world. But we are ever so slowly getting there.

Company ownership should be public and easily accessible information to begin with.

The best story I read about the defence of Hostomel was that UAF was handing out weapons to civilians in order to defend the airport.

Yes!

As stupid as it sounds people trust them more than the experts. We live in the post truth times anyway.

So if you print your book on this printer. A book that you have written and are about to send to a publisher. HP can take it and sell it. And you are paying them for the privilege.

That is a HARD NO from me.

Because modern air war has little if anything to do with dogfighting (planes fighting planes with guns). It is all about using missiles to hit targets. Both on the ground and in the air. And those missiles can also be fired from the ground. SAMs (surface-to-air-missile) are used to hit planes, drones, other missiles. Also MANPADs (portable shoulder fired missiles) pose a threat to aviation.

In an air superiority battle overwhelming air power is used to take out the SAM batteries. This is difficult and costly. Something neither Russia nor Ukraine are currently able to do. So both are using jets in a minimal capacity.

Recently Russia has ramped up the usage of jets to hit entrenched targets on the front line. Which has predictably resulted greater losses. And relatively meager gains.

Yeah, look at the curves on that guy.

The Finnish group that supports democracy in Russia is planning such a protest. Which is good. But too little too late.

Although the fact that in this protest they used flags of the Russian president tells you who is actually behind it.

US does shit like this all the time. Guantanamo bay ring a bell? There are still people there who haven't been convicted of a crime.

[-] rammer@sopuli.xyz 28 points 1 year ago

Yeah, at this point they've broken so many rules of war that there aren't many left to break.

Most other countries do not have HOAs. In Finland where I live, municipalities can enact ordinances to limit what you can do on your property, but they are often very limited if they exist at all. The most restrictive ones that I know limit the type of house that can be built (eg. no flat roofs, although this can be a zoning issue as well), the color of the houses and other similar limitations.

I'll take my socialdemocrat "hell hole" of a country over the "free" USA with HOAs any time.

It's great that West African nations are taking care of this themselves. It is a moment of empowerment. They should take care of their own. Without interference from the outside. Neither from the West, nor Russia, nor China.

Even though they probably don't cause illness this far north, this is worrying.
