It’s what struck me when I switched to Android… the play store is awful. Good on Apple, hopefully Google will follow suit.

This was me when my dad would use limewire, break the family PC, and blame me because I was playing “those video games”.

sh.itjust.works doesn’t have custom emojis and so is fairly safe from this specific exploit. Only local users of instances with custom emojis were at risk if they had visited a malicious page on their home instance.

Lemmy-ui pushed a fix for this vulnerability just 8 minutes ago, so we’ll see if that makes it here.

Idk it just works and I have the whole ecosystem to support it so why not. I flip flop between Android and iPhone whenever. My previous phone was a Pixel 6 Pro. It really doesn’t matter to me, it’s just about how goofy I feel on the day I decide to buy a phone.

It’s not the official app. There are no official app.

They all work with each other and they are both public platforms so they’re as private as any other activitypub-based software. Content amount doesn’t matter when it’s all federated

[-] oatmilkmaid@possumpat.io 42 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Meta doesn’t need threads.net to harvest data from ActivityPub instances. In fact, literally anyone can do it without much effort. You’re not protecting your data by being here. It’s as public as old phpbb forums used to be even more so. That bit is a non issue (well, it is an issue…)

My issue is just with the quality of content from meta owned instances and what it’ll bring to other federated instances.

[-] oatmilkmaid@possumpat.io 25 points 1 year ago

They can - but everyone else can choose to defederate from them. It gives others choice of whether or not they want their instance to participate (or let another instance) participate in their activities.

I used to, and it was a fairly easy process. I eventually just decided to use Bitwarden’s own servers because I didn’t trust myself to not lose all my passwords while self hosting

Bitwarden all day every day. I don’t even know any of my passwords because they’re all randomly generated. Try to guess my password now hacker man
