The Goblin trader that gets left in the Goblin camp. The way he says "Praise The Absolute" whilst brushing his finger across his nose is so well delivered. Reminds me of a character from a Monty Python sequence.

Siliconera: Armored Core VI may be the best game FromSoftware has made to date

That statement carries a megaton of weapon-grade weight upon it.

Detectorists - light hearted, warm and funny show about the lives of metal detector enthusiasts. Got to be my favourite British show to come out in years.

Hide for 30 days is not the option I want YouTube. I blocked them on desktop and have trained my brain to ignore them as I use the iOS app.

Read on what happened with Panchen Lama to get an idea on what will happen once the Dalai Lama passes. Traditions be dammed.

Reading through the article it sounds like not a great study, not asking enough questions and not tracking key information, such as cause of death.

Sounds like one of those things where people are going to headline what they want out of it and use it to champion their bias. "Being overweight doesn't kill you, yay!" Nah, it's way more complicated than that. People with cancer and other diseases often lose weight, a lot of it, and studies like this don't do a good job of tracking this info.

I think Hotbot did that back in the 90's, and it's relaunched (well, the name and domain have been put to use again) as a privacy focused search that combines an AI style question/answer style system as well as traditional link list result. https://www.hotbot.com

They've had a rough run over the years with their previous majority holder running into financial issues and them getting sold to Nacon (Bigben Interactive) in 2022. I'm guessing there was a push internally to go big, and Gollum was the efforts of that. Also Nacon don't have a stellar record for doing well by developers, see: Frogwares and the Sherlock Holmes debacle.

That's a shame. They've been around for a good while now and produced a good run of point and click style adventure games. They took the wrong path with Gollum though.

Calls for talk submissions are open for two more weeks for October's event.

Recommend diving through previous year's events for some really interesting talks and presentations. https://www.roguelike.club/

Another story of investing and growing too much during the covid boom, but also coming to face the harsh reality of how bloated the mobile space is.

I've had a few audiobooks over the years that have a mistake here and there, but at the moment I'm going through The Mahabharata - Volume 1 read by Gaurav Marwa and it's chock full of misread lines and words. Often he'll reread a sentence once or twice after making a mistake and it's all kept in the book.

Doesn't help that his reading is really dry. I'd honestly take some AI voice reading it.

Has anyone else come across some really poorly edited (or not edited) books that kept in mistakes?

Gaming Historian's content is always incredibly well made, and this one is no different. Love the amount of detail he gets into. These videos make a good compliment to all the retro tech channels that just focus on the tech.

They were asking for this. I can't only presume the pitch for this game was "Bloodborne 2 without the IP", and to be fair I can see why it landed. Fromsoft left a hole and they're looking to fill it.

One thing Reddit dominates on is search results. I'm looking things up and seeing so many links to reddit, which I guess is going to help keep that place relevant (unless those subreddits stay dark).

I wondered how Lemmy and this fed thingy stuff all works for that? With more posts can we expect to see people arriving through search results?

Private HC Servers (lemmy.world)

Dunno how people feel on talking about private servers, but I was looking to find a NA one with a good pop? Played on an EU one over the weekend but it was quite with people over there being asleep.

Still getting my bearings on all of this but I'm loving what I've seen so far.

Are there any mobile apps to use (iOS) for browsing and posting?

I found mlem, which is currently in Testflight but it only supports iOS 16+ and I'm stuck on iOS15 (iPhone 7).
