Yes, and I think that only strengthens the point that this was all shooed away where it wouldn't be a bother.

It was mostly Silents/Greatest generations who were doing that kind of cooking. They were only feeding it to Boomers. In fact, Greatest gen should probably get more flak for making Boomers the way they are. They were super horny and literally fucked the Boomers into existence, but didn't know what to do beyond that.
Sometimes, I don't know how America avoided a collective heart attack before Kennedy was assassinated.
Yes, right. Still works.
So I think this is actually a little bit of a naive viewpoint. The next level beyond it is to consider why they're saying something. You don't have to assume they're telling the truth, but politicians say things for a strategically chosen reason.
I do think the fact that Johnson even piped up about the Epstein files is meaningful. There is a break in the thinking between the coalitions of the Republican parties. Johnson was probably trying to woo some of them, got pressured, and then backed off. But even the fact that he had to be pressured means they had to expend effort to keep him in line. That can't keep working forever.
Which is also why I think the Epstein files are no mere distraction. There is a breakdown, and they're not easily falling in line.
These days, search engine optimization tends to force new single letter languages into obscurity. Even Go would have issues there if Google hadn't been behind it.
It's all quite the opposite, in fact. From the time of the Revolution onward, there were lots of Americans fighting for the working class against the rich. It's deeply rooted in our history, and America would never have developed the same way without it. The history books written since the Cold War have glossed over much of it, but it's not something you can completely remove, either.
We celebrate Veterans Day as the start of summer, and Labor Day as the end of summer. However, one of these gets a lot more flag waving and attention going on than the other. People literally died for both of those, but Labor Day is treated as just a day off.
That's how Newsweek works now.
Oh, good. For a moment there it almost seemed like Johnson had a spine.
K&R started with BCPL as their base of inspiration. They then made B, and then C. The followup should be called P.
There is way, way more to it than that.
Literally me, the very moment I clicked on this.
