White House tells CNN that Trump's "immediately evacuate Tehran" message is meant to indicate that Iran needs to return to negotiations with the US.

I am clarifying because right wing twitter have declared the shooter to be a left wing radical. I'm suspecting right wingers will create conspiracy theories similar to the David DePape situation, where they claimed that the attack was motivated by a lover's quarrel.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 58 points 1 month ago (5 children)

I'm highly doubting that the motivation of the shooter was that he supported free healthcare. The suspected shooter worked for private security, had US military ties, and owned a cop car.

This is the suspect that the police announced. He's very fed-coded. ~~I think he's also South African.~~

Editing this comment because I can't confirm that he was from South Africa. He was a member of "Minnesota Africans United", a connection for the network of African immigrants in Minnesota.

The devs have said that all of the poe 2 engine code is being backported to poe 1. They may have already backported much of it. There is no "I can only play poe 2 because poe 1 code is bad". It's the same code.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Both games run on mostly the same code. POE2's game engine is based on POE1's code. There's even examples where POE1 features have accidentally been left in POE2, example: the POE2 anointment window prompted you to use tainted oil, an item which doesn't exist in POE2.

For performance issues, update your graphics driver, delete the game graphics cache files.

Try POE 1. Follow the pohx guide for new players. The next poe2 expansion is probably August.

The title is kind of confusing. The WSWS (trotskyist newspaper) has declared Mikie Sherrill to be a CIA asset because she was in the US Navy. She's not openly CIA like Elissa Slotkin.

I think they have new submarines in the works. DPRK received a lot of new technology from Russia.

Maggie Hassan: What is habeas corpus?

Kristi Noem: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

Maggie Hassan: That's incorrect

*talking over each other*

Kristi Noem: President Lincoln used it

Maggie Hassan: Habeas corpus is the legal principle that requires that the government provide a public reason for detaining and imprisoning people. If not for that protection, the government could simply arrest people, including American citizens, and hold them indefinitely for no reason

"We're going to take control of all the Gaza Strip,” Netanyahu vowed Monday in a video released by his office announcing that Israel would begin delivering “minimal humanitarian aid: food and medicine only.”

"Our best friends in the world—senators I know as strong supporters of Israel—have warned that they cannot support us if images of mass starvation emerge," he said. “They come to me and say, ‘We’ll give you all the help you need to win the war… but we can’t be receiving pictures of famine,’” Netanyahu added. To continue the war of annihilation, he asserted, “We need to do it in a way that they won't stop us.”

Spokesperson for DPRK Foreign Ministry Issues Press Statement

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following press statement titled "The U.S. should stop offending the DPRK with unnecessary and inefficient malicious provocations" on Friday:

Recently, the U.S. Department of State committed a political provocation of re-designating the DPRK as an "uncooperative state in combating terrorism" under the pretext of not joining in its "anti-terrorist efforts."

Such unilateral and malicious designating campaign staged by the U.S. every year should be duly denounced and rejected by the international community as it is a smear stratagem to brand the independent sovereign states as "state sponsor of terrorism" and make them targets of international criticism.

The "anti-terrorism" advocated by the U.S. is nothing but an excuse to justify interference in internal affairs of other countries and the overthrow of their social systems and in fact, the countries designated by the U.S. as "uncooperative state in combating terrorism" are becoming the main targets of the U.S. hostile policy and military threat, the expression of the most heinous state-sponsored terrorism.

No one has asked the U.S. to lead international anti-terrorist efforts, nor has anyone invested it with such power.

"The Declaration on Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism" and other international laws adopted at the 49th session of the UN General Assembly branded the acts of threatening friendly relations between states and of encroaching upon the territorial integrity and security of a state as crimes and clearly stipulate that the struggle against international terrorism should be waged under the UN Charter and other international laws.

This proves that the U.S. illegal and unjust hostile acts against the DPRK and other sovereign states are the most serious political violence as well as state-level terrorism.

It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to resolutely oppose all forms of terrorism threatening international peace and security, but the so-called "anti-terrorist efforts" of the U.S., recognized as a synonym for interference in internal affairs and acts of aggression against independent countries, are irrelevant to the DPRK's will against terrorism.

Before dealing with someone's "cooperation" in the issue of "anti-terrorism", the U.S. had better face up to the present situation of the DPRK-U.S. relations which have been fixed as the one between states thoroughly hostile to each other due to the U.S. unilateral and wrong doings.

The more the U.S. provokes the DPRK with unnecessary and inefficient malicious acts, the further it will escalate the irreconcilable hostility between the DPRK and the U.S.

The DPRK will never tolerate any outside attempt to impair and violate the dignity, sovereign rights and security interests of the state but take effective and proper measures to cope with the U.S. hostile provocations in all spheres. -0-

Trump’s supporters have interpreted the message as an endorsement of violence against Trump – the 47th president. There is more debate around the use of 86, a slang term often used in restaurants to mean getting rid of or throwing something out

CCTV: It was reported that after China-U.S. Economic and Trade Meeting in Geneva, China will lower the tariffs on U.S. goods from 125 percent to 10 percent for an initial period of 90 days. Meanwhile, the U.S. will cut its tariffs on Chinese goods to 30 percent, 20 percent of which is imposed on the grounds of the fentanyl issue. What is China’s comment?

Lin Jian: China and the U.S. reached multiple positive common understandings at the economic and trade meeting in Geneva. Both sides agreed to slash tariffs on each other’s goods. The U.S. committed to remove 91 percent in tariffs, and suspend 24 percent in “reciprocal tariffs.” China would accordingly remove 91 percent in counter tariffs and suspend 24 percent in counter tariffs. The two countries respectively retain the remaining 10 percent in tariffs.

Right after the U.S. groundlessly levied two rounds of tariffs on Chinese goods under the pretext of the fentanyl issue, China responded with tariffs and non-tariff countermeasures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. These countermeasures remain in force.

Bloomberg: The former Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns said the U.S. has made it clear to Beijing that failure to coordinate on the fentanyl issue must come at a price and that China does have the capacity to stop the flow of precursor chemicals. What is the Ministry’s response?

Lin Jian: I have just stated China’s principled position on the fentanyl tariff issue. China has made it clear more than once that fentanyl is the U.S.’s problem, not China’s. It’s the U.S.’s responsibility to solve the issue. Despite the goodwill China has shown, the U.S. wrongly slapped tariffs on Chinese imports by citing the issue of fentanyl. The move has dealt a heavy blow to China-U.S. dialogue and cooperation on counternarcotics, and gravely hurt China’s interests. If the U.S. truly wants to cooperate with China, it should stop vilifying and shifting the blame on China, and seek dialogue with China based on equality, respect and mutual benefit. China firmly opposes the irresponsible and false accusations made by the U.S. individual you mentioned.
