I don't think you really have to go very far back. Since I was old enough to remember, I heard basically every adult say that they voted for the lesser of two evils. Maybe it wasn't as overt then, but it was definitely the mind set.

And this is exactly why Republicans yell about people abusing the system.

Look, I know it's idealist, but corporate profits are at an all time high. C-level execs make hundreds to thousands times what their lowest level employee does. It's disgusting. The greed and their assumption that we will just let them continually be more greedy is disgusting. Maybe they don't need all that. They can actually pay their employees better. They choose not to because we have barely any social nets in this country, what does exist can be really hard to get, and people have to eat and have a home. They prey on desperate people, hide behind the idea that minimum wage is "supposed to be for teenagers, and refuse to entertain the notion that they are the problem.

If we had any real integrity in our laws, this kind of stuff would never happen.

My six year old asked me if dvd's were used when I was a kid in the 50's. I'm 32. 3,000 years for VHS tracks.

And then there's a small subset who is tech adjacent, kind of understands what's going on, and is fed up with Reddit's CEO being a dick. 😅 I genuinely like Lemmy and try to understand the techy posts.

My kid is into bugs, so we spend a lot of time looking them up. I really like dragonflies. And I added my favorite numbers plus one more because I had to make a new account on a different instance and didn't want it shot down just in case.

Yeah, the only time I made boys pants fit was when I was a late teen/young adult before I had kids. Now there's just no way it would ever work.

That said, all the new shorts and pants I buy have pockets. The shorts are basically women's versions of men's basketball shorts and the pants are yoga ones. Super comfy.
