Red Star πŸ‡°πŸ‡΅, Nova πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί, Kylin πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³, and whatever the Vietnamese government distribution is called: You have betrayed us :(

Fun fact: You can actually just download Nova and Kylin from their websites and use them, pretty fun to mess around with if you're ever bored and want to have some fun.

Though frontiers and mountains stand between us, proletarians of the whole world come together as one family.

The first comment hits the nail on the head. Any time I've ever criticized charity for not actually solving any problems or the fact that it creates a parasitic relationship between the poor and the 1%, suddenly I'm the bad person because I rather tackle the problem at it's roots. Makes absolutely no sense. Good video though, recommend the watch to any of the lurkers who may be reading this.

A little bit of a rant for anyone reading, but if you want the Arch experience, just use Arch itself. archinstall (which comes with the bootable installation media) makes it super easy to install with your favorite desktop environment and it cuts out the middleman who is known to break their website and repositories quite often.

I urge anyone here still using Windows to just give Linux a try ΒΉ, I promise it's not as scary as you probably think it is, most distributions these days come with a very friendly and easy to understand installer (they will walk you through the entire setup process just like Windows would) and friendly interfaces to configure or install just about anything you could ever want without having to touch the scary terminal (Which you should still learn when you feel comfortable! It's a very powerful and awesome tool to have in your tool belt).

A couple Linux distributions I can recommend for beginners, in no particular order:

  1. Fedora
  2. Linux Mint

All it takes is a USB flash drive that you don't mind erasing the data off of, about an hour of your time, and the willingness to learn something new. I promise, it's worth it, come help us accelerate the slow decline of Windows.

1: Unless you require Windows for work, school, or something of that nature. Some things like Adobe's suite of products and those "secure browsers" that some schools utilize just won't work at all on Linux natively or through compatability layers.

Yep, this was the final straw for me as well. Especially with the Pi 5 having custom silicon and such, that's a huge no thanks for me... The VisionFive & Milk-V RISC-V boards look promising and I have faith in our Chinese comrades.

I find it kind of wholesome as well, it gives off very heavy "look at what we're able to achieve!" kind of feelings. If things were paraded around like this under capitalism, it would just be one big huge ad to get you to buy the product.
