Yeah wasn’t sure how truthful that is, just what I had heard being touted.

But now that I think about it, some GoPros are waterproof and some of them have removable batteries too. So yeah, lazy excuse on their part. Probably being cheap or disingenuous.

We recently noticed this with Samsung’s line where my mom went from one of the flagships to the lower end. She was initially hesitant but has actually been much happier.

She got a removable battery, micro SD card slot, better battery life, among other features she came to love that weren’t on the flagship. It’s crazy they don’t, but my best guess is that all these features add doors/slots that “ruin” the aesthetic of the look of the phone? I’m not sure why else they choose to do this besides that. Though I have heard the removable battery loss is due to waterproofing, and it’s not possible to have that with a waterproof design.

I agree with the other person as an EV owner, myself. I charge at home, yeah, but road trips are a bitch to do in an EV, as it is, for one example.

Granted, apps like PlugShare and my EV’s navigation system help plan routes, but it’s still got a lot of range anxiety that you might end up with a dead battery somewhere.

Too often do I go to a station on the map and the cables are cut by some vandal or the machine simply isn’t working for one reason or another or it’s being hogged by someone who is using it as their personal campground/personal free charger and they live a block away or it’s just being a pain for no reason, like a lot of Shell chargers at Amazon stores, Kohls, etc. Tesla superchargers are the only real working solution here that are always dependable for me but they’re not everywhere and the recent vandalism against them made it worse in some places for anyone to reliably charge.

It’s not on the same level as hydrogen station availability is, for sure, and the convenience of charging at home helps, but doesn’t do much when out and about far from home.

I went to pick up some family up at our nearby airport and it was insane how many places gave me issues trying to find a charger to top off my range. This place was hogged, that place was broken, that place didn’t exist, that one was only for the dealership…finally had to just bite the bullet and waste 10 miles to get to a Tesla supercharger that had 11 spots available and in 8 minutes of charging, I was back on the road. Took me less time charging than I did driving everywhere to find a charger.

Range is still really crappy on new vehicles barely touching 300 miles in some cases, which decreases quickly in the first year by at least 20-50 miles and more as time goes on. We’re seeing more touching 400, but I’m skeptical of their estimates. I did see one with 1,000 out of China, but really wondering how they’re managing to pull that off and how truthful it is in real world use.

Again, definitely not on the same level of hydrogen, but for those used to gasoline and the convenience of finding a gas station in the middle of the Mojave desert or the convenience of carrying a Jerry can, EVs are still somewhat near this level. I’m honestly amazed since electricity is literally everywhere that the system is the way it is. I feel frustrated knowing electricity is flowing through those wires above and yet I could still end up stranded somewhere because of one reason or another.

I got into an argument with my local post office for doing that. The mailman was notorious for marking packages as delivered when he hadn’t even left the damn parking lot. Every morning at 8 AM I would get a delivered notification to my email.

The USPS employee I was talking to said “oh that’s normal, we all do that.” Huh? You mark a package as delivered and you haven’t even left the parking lot?! How does that make any sense? Why even provide a status update to me at all if you do that??

I have one of these and it also has a filter to keep the water clean. I am always topping it off every morning to ensure he has enough in case I spend the night somewhere or don’t come back until late.

What a legacy to leave lol

That looks just like the gas station I saw a few weeks ago with a deadly shoot out with a cop and a guy stalking a woman and it was in Victorville too. Wtf is going on over there?! https://youtu.be/S4e2KOJmn6U

Yes their ads are atrocious and getting worse by the day!

What kind of videos do you do?

I’ve actually never cooked beef in this way (done steaks before) but never this cut or teriyaki style but it turned out great!

I wanted WaBa Grill the other day and decided I’d rather not go out and spend money on fast food and instead increase my cooking knowledge and actually using my kitchen and the food I buy. In total, I spent between $15-$20 for all the ingredients and I have enough for at least 2 bowls. But this same price is about how much a single bowl like this would have cost me there, so I’ve saved pretty well on this one and I had fun doing it!

It was very delicious, much better than I was expecting, but I think I’ll change up next time by using less teriyaki sauce (it flowed out of that bottle QUICK lol) and using a different cut of beef. But other than that, I enjoyed every bit of this meal. The avocado meshes so well with this in a way I can’t describe and I’m not a fan of sesame seeds, but I did it for the look and actually it wasn’t that bad tasting to me on this. I think I will do that again too.

Inspired by WaBa Grill, except their cut of the beef. I was at the grocery store and grabbed the quickest cut I found which was taco beef. But this turned out really well! Very delicious.

What happened with Alex? I’m out of the loop on that one. Did it happen here?

I remember a time when the news would refuse to show something and I’d go to YouTube to see the uncensored clip.

But today I was reminded of how bad YouTube has gotten when a YouTube video censored a news clip because the anchor said “died”.

And this has led to the dumb trend of new terms like “unalive” and “self delete” like that makes it any different. It just moves to the next term that the algorithm will pick up on and lead to another dumb term to avoid the censors.

But for what? Like we did we get to this point? Who gives a fuck if they talk about suicide or death and it’s in context? Someone could be talking about a serious topic like their failed attempt and warning someone to not try it and that video gets removed/hidden. Good job, YouTube.

I’ve been making some videos too and it’s stupid the things I’ve had to avoid just to ensure my hard work doesn’t get hidden or removed because YouTube doesn’t like a term I used, even if it was in proper context. I’m not even getting paid for my videos but I don’t want my hard work going in vain. I release my videos on multiple platforms and it makes me want to skip YouTube, altogether, but I only keep it because it’s the most popular.

It’s so fucking stupid. The internet used to be the place to go to get the real story without unnecessary censors.

Maybe check out emulators if you’re okay with controllers? I just downloaded CoD MW2 for Xbox 360 on my Steam Deck because I can’t play with a keyboard and mouse and the controller scheme just works as it should.

I use Xenia Canary and there is a netplay version too.

It’s been quite the journey in finally getting to see one.

All my life, I had never heard an owl “who” until a few years ago and it was so cool. Better than I could have ever imagined. I love all types of birds. We have a lot of hawks in my area that I love seeing often along with the other birds everyone is quite familiar with. Seeing them glide above and hearing their screeches is such an awesome experience.

Back in school, we did dissect owl droppings and even glued the skeletons to form a complete rodent skeleton on a piece of paper.

I have found owl droppings here too.

Then there was one time when we to let the dogs out and they were making a ton of noise. In the trees, I could see a big brown bird with a huge wingspan silently move from one branch to another to get deeper in the darkness of the small forest. I searched everywhere in there for what I knew was an owl but couldn’t find it anywhere. I had never seen such a massive wingspan or not hear a single thing. Not even a grip of tree branches or rustle in the leaves.

Then yesterday I let the dogs out again and they ran into the dried up pond and I saw a massive wingspan yet again go from the dried bed of the pond to a group of trees above. There, I finally laid eyes on this amazing creature. I had never seen anything quite like it before. It stared right back at me with very faint but bold yellow eyes. It turned its head to see the dogs who were making a ton of noise to my side then back to me. I could tell it was quite scared of us and so I backed away to give it some space.

As we backed up, I saw bones and a rabbit’s foot with its fur still intact. Looks like we had disturbed a meal, or the ending of the meal. I got some pictures, but they were quite blurry and far off.

Then today, as we went down again, I saw it perched on top of an old metal fence, very low to the ground. I tried to quietly get the dog to come back but he couldn’t hear me. The owl saw him and flew off into the trees above. Here is where I saw it more closer and I could see more details so clear.

This picture does my experience justice. (Not a shill, but I got this with the Adobe Indigo app I just downloaded today and it greatly helped me take a much clearer picture that was far away.)

I’m so in awe of this nocturnal bird. I didn’t want to scare it anymore than we already have so I’m going to try to be more gentle in the future as much as we can. I feel lucky to caught it as the sun is going down and as it is beginning its own day.

There’s a massive nest in one of the trees and I’m thinking that might be its home. May even be a mother or planning to settle here with some new owls of its own? I’m hoping so. We have a bad rodent problem here and these owls are so beautiful and graceful. Would be a welcome exchange, in my opinion.

wtf I actually like being put on hold if this is the music I get

This is the kind of shit that makes me embrace piracy more and more.

Years ago, we bought this software that specializes in something we do at work. Super specialized software but met all of our needs. Expensive at $600 per license, but it was supposed to be for “life”. So we figured it was worth it.

Until we upgraded to Windows 11 this year because Windows 10 won’t be supported after October this year.

We upgraded the computers (yes, we bought multiple licenses of this, some even as late as last year, so only got a few uses) and didn’t think twice about it. But after upgrading, this software now shows as unlicensed.

No worries, we kept our licensing information in an event like this. Oh, it doesn’t recognize it. Oh, their specialized number changed too! Wtf alright, well I’ll just reach out to their support for help.

Their support is super slow and not just because they’re on the other side of the world. I have to usually reach out to “sales” to get someone to actually help me. Days later, they respond saying that we need to pay for a “reissuance” of the license because the OS changed.

Huh…?

It just upgraded! It’s still the same computer we installed it to. Wtf dude. How is this fair?

This is like your car’s transmission going out while still under warranty and the manufacturer denying a warranty replacement because the tires and color of the car changed. Yes, the VIN we gave the car is still the same, even the license plate is the same…but yeah, we won’t honor this without you paying us because it’s fundamentally a new car now!

Go fuck yourself. Truly.

This is not a new computer. This is the same computer. This is a new update that we didn’t necessarily want but we have no choice in the matter. You can verify that your software has been installed here since the day we activated with your license.

No pirated version exists for this nor would we use it since we’d get in trouble for it. But man, this is the kind of crap that deserves a pirated copy because this is absurd. I can understand being paid for your hard work and trying to avoid people skirting around paying you for each computer they install to, but this is overdoing it. You’re now being greedy and double dipping. No other software we use has this problem. And $600 is a bit much when you do this kind of crap. Even if you are only charging partial for “reissuance”.

Must be dying from a lot of people leaving. Who doesn’t know about Reddit nowadays??

Couldn’t sleep and went for a drive. 711 guy locked the door and posted a sign that he was taking a break just as I was walking up to the door so I turned around to leave and began leaving the parking lot. I look off to the side and see this weird looking cat but it’s not sitting like a cat.

Pulled up beside it and shouted out of my car “hey what are you up to?” The raccoon just looked up at me and I took this pic lol.

Truthfully, this was my first time seeing a raccoon (alive). I only ever see roadkill or glimpses of them scurrying off at night. So this was kind of cool for me.

It’s imitation lobster I bought for salad but thought I’d try this today because I wanted a sandwich and wanted some “lobster” too.

The lettuce is fresh from my backyard. Best thing I did this year was buy this 6 pack of lettuce plants for like $5 and have been using it ever since for sandwiches and salads.

Also added avocado and Roma tomato. And then added mayonnaise and siracha mayonnaise for the spread. You can see some of the siracha mayo on the lobster on the side.

Very delicious and definitely recommend.

Sorry if this is not the right community to ask this, but I just wondered this today.

Users often think of Linux as being more complicated to use than something like Windows or macOS, but I’m sure there are plenty of things made easier in Linux than the other two more common consumer OSes.

What are some that come to mind for you?
