I pronounce it with two syllables personally, but I grew up in the southern US so I’ve also heard it with one by many family members and friends. If I affect a southern drawl it becomes one syllable but that accent isn’t natural to me

I just don’t expose anything to those platforms that isn’t already public or that could come back to bite me if it were. They are garbage platforms for political discussion, I don’t even try. They’re just ways to know what my friends and family are up to and their major life events

That said if you have no connection to these platforms already or can use an alternative please do. And don’t rely on them to protect any aspect of your privacy or security, sandbox them and the information they get because they will exploit you or leak ur shit

I have quit caffeine a couple of times. I’m such a fiend for it but it definitely increases my anxiety and makes my sleep less regular too. I taper off because I drink astronomical amounts. I usually halve my intake week over week until im down to just a cup of tea or something light, at which point I start taking odd days off of caffeine and then none at all. Normally my caffeine free streaks last a couple of months, until some late night project or early morning meeting ruins my energy levels and I start the cycle all over again.

Both bourgeois parties are actively performing genocide in West Asia with a particular emphasis on Palestine right now. They both trip over each other trying to outdo one another’s anti-immigrant rhetoric. Both run concentration camps on the Mexico border. Both stoke hatred for LGBTQ+ people for cheap bigoted culture war points. Both crush strikes and protest movements. Both are imperialist servants to capital, and will do anything to further the military industrial complex, pharmaceutical industry, and finance groups which back them.

Fascism is capitalism in decay, it is a corporatist economic structure with brutal repressive elements towards labor, activists, and minority groups. It’s imperial domination and exploitation. It’s establishing a supremacist in-group mindset and stoking all manner of bigotry to redirect people’s grievances away from class consciousness and into oppressing their fellow man. We have all of that now, despite slight differences in rhetoric between the Dems and Republicans. Both parties materially support and facilitate exactly that structure. The USA is a fascist country and has always been the primordial archetype for that system. Voting under a liberal democracy is nearly meaningless given that the system is rigged by capital from the start, but running water for these exploitative bourgeois genicodaires is disgusting. Your vote acts as endorsement and lends legitimacy to exactly these crimes which WILL continue regardless of which ghoul occupies the White House.

This isn’t that scary but it’s real and spooked me at the time. Two years ago I was on a date and I was driving us up a wooded mountain road to an overlook late at night. We were looking forward to the view because it was a moonless night and we’d be overlooking our town, but yeah just pitch black out. I’m driving pretty slow given the type of road and conditions, lots of turns and switchbacks yknow. Anyways we round a corner and on the side of the road is this huge hideous creature. It is pale, at least 6 feet long, 4 legged but standing on its hind legs, with wrinkly skin and no discernible fur. My first thought was that it was a mangy bear, but it was larger than the black bears we have here and some of its features and movements were absolutely unlike any bear I’ve seen. Its legs were less thick and structured more like those of a dog or cat that had been scaled up. Its face also didn’t look like it had a snout, but was more human like almost? I don’t know how to describe it but it was ugly, unnatural, and terrifying. It looked towards us as we rounded the corner, then turned quickly with an action I can only describe as a snapping motion and ran into the bushes adjacent to it. Overall the interaction was only a few seconds but I think about it every time I drive or hike in that area. I tell myself it was a bear with some sort of skin disease but deep down I don’t believe that at all. Anyway we had a nice time at the overlook after that, but every rustle and snap we heard that night had me on edge lol

How’s your experience with cosmic? I’m using a very similar setup with a custom bluebuild image pulling from secureblue. Currently on Gnome but impatiently waiting for cosmic to hit some level of stability

They literally can’t vote because of the US sanctions against them preventing them from collecting the funds to pay UN fees. They’ve been suspended from voting for a couple of years now

Do you have any reading or resources regarding this tendency? I have never heard someone describe themselves that way and in my mind that ideology would entail major contradictions but I'd love to learn more
