Its their platform and their reputation. If some users don't like what "Musk" do, then they have right to make and read news about it, regardless of de jure rights, EULA and whatnot.
PS: And yes, the owner's account was renamed in a rather nonchalant "fuck you" way. I would never learn about this, without these news.
It can end in many ways. Some of them more terrifying that your version, others not.
Oh they are switching from "Its not real" to "its all over, we can't do anything, so invest in fossils even more" (the invest part is an exaggeration). I want to believe that most of those messages are from paid actors (oil industry, authoritarian regimes).
Its not hundreds. Pulling numbers out of the void to prove a point.. Come on. And even hundreds is not much by the modern standards. Not to mention that Ukraine will have to pay some of it back. As well as russia, once they capitulate. In fact, amount of russian assets that was arrested is MORE than was spent to help Ukraine. Which is NOT a bad deed by itself (crazy that this needs to be repeated).
Personally, we can save a bit of resources, provide tiny relieve spots for a wild animals, insects, etc. Its a fact. Physical reality. Just because its not enough by itself, does not mean, we should not do that.
Naturally, not doing anything on a personal level, because "its not enough" is a very much approved way of living by the corporations. Having unhappy, consuming population? Chief's kiss.
However.. its not a good thing, when tiniest acts in the right direction demotivate people to do more. "I am doing my part!" - yes, that is nice, but we need more.
I assume that folks are just looking for a way to keep their comfort zone the same. Finding an excuse is simple, even without blatant logic errors.
