Three weeks after one of Brazil’s worst-ever floods hit its southernmost state, killing 155 people and forcing 540,000 from their homes, experts have warned that water levels will take at least another two weeks to drop.

The death toll across Rio Grande do Sul is still increasing daily, and more than 77,000 displaced people remain in public shelters, prompting the state government to announce plans to build four temporary “tent cities” to accommodate them.

The European Central Bank will “most likely” lower borrowing costs when it meets in June — should the outlook for consumer prices be confirmed by fresh quarterly forecasts, Executive Board member Frank Elderson said.

“This is a projection meeting so we will look at projections,” he told Bloomberg in Rome on Friday. “If these projections were to solidify the confidence levels that we see today, I think that we will most likely take a step.”

"Official Chinese figures show 12,000 repatriation cases from more than 120 countries as a result of the two main repatriation campaigns. These are often touted by Beijing as a major success. It is not clear exactly how much of this is propaganda and how much is real data. To give a sense of the scale, a few years ago China managed to persuade 230,000 people to return to China in just one year as part of a special campaign in which the threat of collective punishment was also used as a means of persuasion."

So basically Chinese refuges or expats resident have never been safe. Its not something recent .And apperantly the Chinese Gvement isn't respecting the sovereignty of other countries at all. It's a wakeupcall, our territories are "infiltrated and not safe", and now with the upcoming collaboration between Hungary and China, it will only get worse; if we don't change our ways soon.

Condemning Iran because of attacking back but when Israel does it - it suppose to be okay? Double standards.

No, you are wrong. The EU condemned the atack on the embassy in Damascus, see link

"BRUSSELS, April 3 (Reuters) - The European Union on Wednesday condemned an airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1 that killed seven people and called on countries in the region to show restraint."

Please respond in an informed way, instead of escalating things without any basis. Let's stay on topic.

It's almost literally a reenactment by the AFD of what happened around the 1930s. It's so fucked up.

But this is 2024 , so people should be more aware, and are protesting massively. Unfortunately, the resurgence of (forms of) fascism is a worldwide trend, and not an isolated phenomena.

Add: many people seem to be calling Fascistist "Nazis" nowadays. That's so confusing to me, as if they don't know that Nazism is a particular form of Fascism. While Fascism in all its varieties and guises should be the true denominator for trouble, and is the enemy of democracy.

We really should tax %% them all: their businesses, the Royal houses; no exceptions, or offshore bla bla. Then we can redistribute their wealth/power more socially.

EU corporate tax rules should only be a beginning.

Is that good? The article gives no context for the results.

For context here another article by France24

And they state:

" Labelled a separatist by Beijing, the winner in Taiwan’s presidential race has promised to stick to Tsai’s policy of maintaining the status quo, which avoids open declarations of independence while rejecting China’s sovereignty claims. "

All the best sorting the mods out!

World News is for all News OUTSIDE the United States, that's what the normal "News" is for

The division you make between domestic and worldnews is US centric. US newssites and journals follow this same logic. So, US citizens read their domestic news and everything that is not US, is considered worldnews . I get that.

The problem is that what sometimes is domestic to US, is sometimes worldnews for the rest of the world. This means some domestic US news is considered worldnews in other non US newspapers.

I don't care especially about domestic US News, but when it's considered major news by Non Us newsagents, it's usually important for the world as a whole.

Please, consider this element as well.

"Its stint in local government proved the Left’s worst fear true: Vox local governments censored books and movies, withdrew LGBT flags from town halls. Instead of seeking ‘normalisation’ as its peers - Le Pen and Meloni - did to become mainstream, VOX remained radically antagonistic.”

“Spaniards took notice and got scared as their dictatorship is still fresh in the country’s political imagination,” he added."

Glad many Spaniards took notice of Vox party-line and censorship, and instead chose freedom & civility and thus stopped the predictions.
