I can't say I blame them when it comes to going with what's comfortable.

I used Windows and Linux while in school so it's what I got used to. Whenever I use MacOS I feel incredibly lost

I've started to really like just mustard and sauerkraut on my hotdogs and racing games over FPS because they're a little slower paced.

Isn't the whole Macs don't get viruses thing a myth by this point?

There are a lot more sources for random untrustworthy Windows software than there are for MacOS but that's on the user the same way keeping your OS up to date is.

My family did secret Santa every year with a $20 limit so it was typically gag gifts. One year a family member was sick on Christmas so we just left our gifts piled up in a closet.

None of the gifts had tags because it was all supposed to be anonymous so when we handed out gifts the following year my great grandma ended up unwrapping a box of noodles shaped like penises.

You can buy thick water (designed for people who have trouble swallowing) at pharmacies and every so often I'll mess with the new guy at work by filling a water bottle with it and taking a swig first thing in the morning after a weekend before saying something like "Damn don't you hate when you forget your water and it goes bad?" and pouring out a thick stream

You might also be interested in the Conch Republics War on the US

In 1982, the United States Border Patrol set up a roadblock and inspection point on US 1 just north of the merger of Monroe County Road 905A/Miami-Dade County Road 905A onto US 1 (they are the only two roads connecting the Florida Keys with the mainland), in front of the Last Chance Saloon just south of Florida City. Vehicles were stopped and searched for narcotics and illegal immigrants. The Key West City Council complained repeatedly about the inconvenience for travelers to and from Key West, claiming that it hurt the Keys' important tourism industry. Eastern Air Lines, which had a hub at Miami International Airport, saw a window of opportunity when the roadblocks were established; Eastern was at the time the only airline to establish jet service to Key West International Airport, counting on travelers from Key West to Miami preferring to fly rather than to wait for police to search their vehicles.

When the city council's complaints went unanswered by the U.S. federal government and attempts to get an injunction against the roadblock failed in court, as a form of protest Mayor Dennis Wardlow and the council declared Key West's independence on April 23, 1982. In the eyes of the council, since the U.S. federal government had set up the equivalent of a border station as if they were a foreign nation, they might as well become one. As many of the local citizens were referred to as Conchs, the micronation took the name of the Conch Republic.

As part of the protest, Mayor Wardlow was proclaimed prime minister of the republic, which immediately declared war against the United States (symbolically breaking a loaf of stale Cuban bread over the head of a man dressed in a naval uniform), quickly surrendered after one minute (to the man in the uniform), and applied for one billion dollars in foreign aid.

Here is a neat video by Geographics that covers it

Pretty basic question but I am struggling to find the words to get the correct search result. The soldering iron I bought came with very narrow tips that I think are supposed to be used for circuit boards and components.

When I attempt to solder lines from a USB cord together the line never gets warm enough.

I remember in the past soldering copper lines together from an appliance with no issue so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong in terms of technique but who knows?

You use Lutris. You can select the executable and run whatever installer then just select the game's executable and make tweaks as required.

Lots of tweaks can be found by viewing the Lutris install script.

The whole process is like installing the GOG version of a game. You don't typically use Proton for non Steam games

Hotline Miami 2. I've beat it on several platforms but I really don't think it's as good as the original.

Fallout 3. Mostly due to the mountain of technical issues it has on PC but even playing on console you can run into stability issues.

You can see why in the comment

I tried to sign up. Missed an answer to one of 3 questions. Application got rejected. Tried it once again but I can't do that with the same email. Need to appeal by installing/using another app to do so. What?!

It's the technical issues and general troubles people have adjusting to Lemmy. It doesn't help that Lemmy and its mobile apps are still rapidly developing.

A lot of people are lazy too. They've gotten accustomed to having certain communities available with a single login while they poop.

Lots of people also found the whole Reddit blackout cringy, unjustified, and pointless largely missing the point.

The blood donation lady asked me if I was hydrated and I said I think so. She asked how much I drank and was surprised to hear I usually drink 4L before noon

Some of them that come to mind for me are:

  • FitGirl's Escape from Tarkov repack that featured a single player mod

  • FitGirl's Half Life Alyx repack that with the NoVR mod

  • Gnarly's Tale of Two Wastelands repack that had everything ready to go after the install. No need to install both Fallout 3 & New Vegas and wait hours for things to compile

El Paquete Semanal (The Weekly Package) is something I've been interested in for a while and what got me into reading about other forms of sneakernet'ing. Figured I'd share this video in case someone hasn't heard about it before

  • I used Invidious as a frontend because it's open source, limits trackers, and doesn't have ADs
